Default Purple99 - How should the lines be drawn?

We've had plenty of discussion on a Teams server in both the red and blue communities, but I don't think we've ever established a consensus on how the teams ought to shake out.

What are your thoughts?

good/evil alignment and based on a player faction system. So you start out in one of the two factions based on your city/race alignment and their corresponding player faction. But you can turncoat to the other side of the player faction through a simple quest script.

However, joining the faction doesn't repair your alignment with those cities, you then need to prove your loyalty by raising npc alignment standings so to be admitted into cities (no effect on player faction, no such "standings"). To turncoat would be a rough road, hated by most npc's until you shift your npc city alignment standings. Turncoating (or whatever word used) sends everything into KOS with all city npc's, and you cant raise opposing player faction npc alignments, only the alignment that corresponds with your player faction.

Also PKing fellow faction players would be allowed, but deeply hurts your npc alignment so that with a couple or few kills you would need to do alignment repair to enter player faction occupied cities. Not as steep a faction rep repair as like on blue99, but still considerable enough to make players plan to stay away from cities for a number of hours.

Also to avoid problems with PKing and easy repair, classes such as bard need more work to repair compared to say warriors :P (i.e. warriors cant like swarm kite 300 mobs)

I'd be happy to see 1 item loot. I think full item loot could make for some interesting scenarios, but would likely lead to a limited population like our current red.

As we learned on SZ live, good/evil split makes everybody pick evil. But will this server have the population to support more than two factions? Red population now is a big indicator that it cannot.

I picked the four faction race split, anyway, though. I assume the ugglies get dark elfs so that they can have C2 and porters, but still don't get Paladins, Druids, or bards? Who really gets the short end of the stick, tho, considering both elves and short races won't get SKs or shamans. (Shorts also won't get bards).

How about making players draft their race alliances? Have players from red nominate and then vote for not necessarily leaders but founders for their side, vote on two (or even three) progenitors, or even select them from a BotB tournament. From there, they take turns selecting races for their side. There is an odd number of races, though, so maybe the least optimal or least played races (i assume erudite and maybe half-elf?) should be combined into one vote (and still probably picked last, lol.)

Have good vs bad. Just hand in a tome at lvl 10 to pick a side. Hard code it so you cant help the other side(buff/heal). This way good or bad, each side has all the class's and race's. Make pvp lvl range +/- 10 lvls, coin only.

Kinda like the idea of good/evil tailored with options for all races to pick either side. I'd worry about it following the same path as ordinary good/evil sz style servers.

I think race class limitations would make things interesting, though i suppose humans would end up being dominant since they've access to all classes. Would be interesting to unlock all classes for all races too, but entirely not classic.

I think with a semi small enough population as it is on Red99 and splitting that even more would be disastrous for everyone.

One side will always be the dominant one when it gets momentum and it will stay that way. Join or Die.. sorta like how red is now.
