Hi, I'm fairly new to the game and was concerned about my character. I made a wood elf and it only has 80 strength and I'm always over weight. Should I re make with more strenght?

That depends.
What class is your wood elf? A rogue? A ranger? What do you want to do? Raid? Solo? Meander through the woods in sheer amazement? You could also work on weighing less. Backpacks are nice, but heavy. There are alternatives. A medicine bag, for example, weighs much less and holds the same. There are also weight reduction bags. You can also destroy copper. Most people do that anyways...

But really though, I'm concerned about weight and how to mitigate it. I looked for medicine bags in Faydark but I couldn't find them. I would like to do a mix of grouping, soloing and raiding. I'd like to experience the game at it's smallest hence soloing, and at it's biggest, the way I believe EQ was intended to be played, meaning raiding. I'd like to be all around suited for anything. Capable of switching gear for any situation. I like the hybrid idea and while I know Rangers aren't tanky, they can be enjoyable just to explore the world and since I'm new, I'd like to play a class that is well suited for any situation.

being over weight is just something you have to deal with as a newbie. It wont take long before you get gear with +STR, buffs with +STR, and bags that reduce weight. As you gain lvls and get this stuff you will take less and less trips to town or nearest vendor to sell. But as a newbie you either gotta sell a lot or destroy stuff. Destroy that copper!

It just sucks being on the verge of wanting to destroy a character that I've already grown so attached to. When do the weight reduction bags come in to play, when do I get them and what are they called? This overweight thing has really got me bummed out.

Around level 12 you can farm Shralok Packs. They are 25% WR and hold giant. Aside from that, there is a 75% WR momento lockbox in SolA and some in Guk.....you can buy 10% WR backpacks from Tailors. Farm the HQ bear pelts and I can make them for you. If you're nearby, I can give you a str buff that will give you an extra 66str for over an hour....

It amazes me how much I don't know about this game or at least forgotten about it. There are so many nuances that have been lost on me. Is 80 str too low? Should I start over because I'm not far enough that I wouldn't mind starting over.

I forgot that a good strategy (I was a newb with my points) is putting all your points in to one stat but I put most of mine in sta which looking back I should have put them all in str if I knew was going to have this small but significant quandry.

80 isn't too bad. But you should know that there is very little demand in normal groups for rangers, that might be a problem when you are looking for groups. So if you like grouping you need to be proactive about it.
If you consider to reroll anyways, keep that in mind. I don't say you should, its up to you.
