Shiny Robe of the Underfoot

Tried making it to the quest guy, got killed by wanderers after getting past a ratman. I thought it was possible to make it to the questgiver with a level 5 brell worshiping cleric? I DAed down there but couldn't get through the part with the wanderers. Do I just need to be more careful?

Also if someone has better instructions on how to do this then the comments in Alla I welcome any help.

I always did it as a brell worshipping rogue halfling, they start with 50 hide/sneak and its rogue hide/sneak, which means you can make it past the ratmen and the undead.

can you make it all the way down like that? the guide i was reading said cleric, DA down. presumably you could do it at one point, the rogue makes sense to me though. Thanks

On live I always did it as halfing rogue and snuck down but iirc there were some faction differences here when I did the hand in.

I'm not sure useful DA would be because if you used it to get past ratmen I think it would fade and you would still be ganked before you got to the guy?

It's been a long time since I did this quest.

What are the odds of getting the robe as a result of handing in an SMR? The wiki makes it sounds uncommon. How many 2k SMRs would I be throwing away before getting the Robe of the Underfoot?

I think it's like 40% chance, but I don't really know. I went like 0 for my first 13 hand ins maybe? but I dunno if they changed it since then, gone like 6 for 11 after that.

So me and a friend ended up making halfling rogues first to CR the dwarf cleric, then to do the robe turnin. I did the turnin on the halfling rogue and Kejar the Mighty ate the robe and killed me.

Anyone who has done this successfully want to clue me in on how you do this on a halfling rogue?

when you open trade window your hide goes away, so you have to re-click it in order to get the trade accepted

edit: also make sure you stand behind a mob when sneaking to avoid aggro.

Yeah you have to turn in from behind,and may have to turn hide off before doing so, i don't play a rogue so i don't know mechanics of sneak dropping if hide drops
