Quest commands not working?

Hi, I'm new to Everquest and the game seems to be working okay, but I have problems getting quests.

For example there's a quest NPC and it gives the [help to bake] command, but I say and /say help to bake, help bake, bake, /say [help to bake] I want to help you bake I want to help etc. etc. and it's all not working

It just does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
