Default Autism and Project 1999 Classic Everquest

Is it a problem?

or is it a solution?

Discuss.

Here's a website you can donate to, to prevent autism in young children.

I'm guessing most of the people who use the terms around here don't know what autism and asperger's actually are, they're just repeating something they read in a meme and think they're being clever.

Autism is pretty clearly outlined in the DSM-V. By definition it's a neurological learning disability.

It could mean that you learn slower in general - it could mean that you will learn over time but will take your whole life to be functional.

But let's not pretend like it's something that cannot be cured. When you see 'heartwarming autism videos' online like that girl with aspergers that has a mental breakdown and has a dog comfort her, those are the people I would consider to have low functioning autism. They probably will live with the condition their entire life and may take their entire life to get to a mentally stable state.

There is also people like myself - When I was young (6 years old) I did one of those tests for IQ and scored very high on two things: high IQ and high functioning autism. Did that hinder me? Arguably, yes, but only in social situations.

The main thing is none of this carried over to my adult life except the positives - Yes, I still obsess over things. But I have learned over time to focus my energy positively, through programming, social activities and gaming.

It's my personal opinion that my brain healed over time and that autism is curable naturally, as long as you stay alive long enough and have the experiences that help you learn in the method you are 'made' to learn in.

There's also the possibility that I was misdiagnosed and that what I experienced was natural and part of growing the fuck up. But I'll never know.

Middle class whites have adopted autism as one of their self-diagnosed diseases to excuse them for being total shitheads.

Spoiled white teenagers? Phrasing seems a bit off. There's potential here, but I need to workshop it some.

I apologize for failing to provide the high quality posting you've all come to expect from me.

I scored over 120, but refused to finish "the dumb fucking test" as a child. I wasn't autistic. I too had rly amazing ability in non analytical and abstract thinking. Which over time I used to compensate for my lack of concrete thinking ability once I figured out for myself what my brain needed to solve normal problems.

Not rly autism. Imho. As my handicaps weren't measurable. I was just majorly different enough from normal human thinking to genuinely not conform to norms.

I think it is unlikely that you have autism, as an autistic wouldn't feel the need to preen in front of others, or to desperately search for a way to sound relevant in a thread. "Hi, this thread is about autism which I don't have therefore because I don't have autism it is relevant for me to yammer on about how I don't have autism in a thread about autism. Have you seen my new shoes?!"
