Default Game immediately crashes after character creation

I've been through all the support threads, updated drivers, disabled firewalls both on my antivirus programs and my router itself (adding an exception for EQ), and nothing is working. As soon as I create my character and hit next it pops up with a black screen that says "You have been disconnected". I have installed the addon pack for zones/spell effects etc. so that isn't it. I've tried running it straight through the Eqgame exe file (with port 5998 in the host text file), I've tried EQEmulator, and I've tried WinEQ2 software, all mounted properly, all run as administrator in all compatibility modes I can think of, and nothing fixes this problem.

The only thing that isn't exactly as it should be based on the threads I've seen is that when I make a shortcut of the eqgame file and move it to my desktop and look at the properties, the target does NOT have the "patchme" at the end. I tried just adding it in but nothing changed.

What next?

My build:
Asus P8Z77-V Pro mobo
Intel i5 3570k @ 4.2 GHz
16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1866MHz
Gtx 760 SSC
Crucial M4 128 GB SSD
