Game Mechanics: tailoring combines

According to the tradeskill calculator, at skill lvl 248 in tailoring, my success rate should be 48.25. Im nowhere in that neighborhood. I just failed 12 strait combines and had several stretches of 8. Most items ive made in a row are 3.

Have to correct myself, last stretch was 8 again. 3rd such stretch I remember.
