Miscellaneous: Scarbrow Not Dropping Frozen Orb

Scarbrow for the Coldain Ring doesnt seem to be dropping the Frozen Orb at all. ( forget which stage this is, orc messager plans )

I killed this guy 5 times last night, I have talked to several people each with 10+ kills on him and no reported Frozen Orbs. These were super common, nearly dropped each time back when I did the quest on live, or rather asked to help someone doing the quest.

I knew the Orb would drop and it being useful to only casters - helping melee out on Coldain Ring provided its benefits [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

However here, it seems the Frozen Orb drop rate is set to the 'nerfed' version. As I read through the Zam comments, peoples opinion about the rarity of this item changes, they cite it being nerfed. Below are the comments.

Drop rate has been nerfed as of Wed 1/17 patch--many peeps have killed Scarbrow since then with no orb dropped--prolly has become a very rare drop now. Watch prices for the orb go up big time! I am glad i picked up 5 right before the patch :)

Obv a patch did not nerf anything as people below still getting Orbs

We had five Ry'gorr Invasion Plans (dropped off Ry'gorr Messenger). You turn on in to the Coldain lookout, and 6 orcs spawn (not sure on loc) right in front of the coldain fort that is near the main orc fort. There are 2 oracles, 3 invaders, and Scabrough, i believe. We had me (53 druid), a 59 chanter, 56 rogue, and 53 ranger, and it was VERY easy. The chanter AE mezzed them all, then we picked out Scarborow, killed him very easily, even w/ the chanter taking the HT. You dont need to kill the other orcs, they run to the coldain and fight them. Even if they win their fight, they despawn. We triggered their spawn 5 times, 2 orbs.

I done this quest 18 times when vellios came out was easy and gave good ex you had to stand in a loc and only the name would spawn besides his Harm touch he was a wimp I charmed anamals to tank him and take the harm touch and the rest was easy now you can stand in the same spot but you have all **** oricle spawn. makeing this quest hard as **** with out a full party sux it was a fun quest to solo for a blue bubble and a chance of him droping nice loot

He currently has been dropping nothing besides his head.

He then drops the frozen orb. Since the nerf though, it might take as many as 3 - 4 times until you get one off him. Some people have done it up to 7 without getting any orb.


So it seems the Frozen Orb is currently not dropping or set to way too rare.

It maybe shouldnt drop each time- but you should see one every 3 -5 kills at least.
