Default Looking for a home!

A somewhat returning player! I'm currently playing a game called FFXIV in a pretty progressive guild, but I find myself with down time and times I'm just burned out on a different MMO. I played Everquest when I was younger, but due to being so young, I feel I never got give it the chance it deserved. I played it all the time, but I think the furthest I got was somewhere around level 40?

Either way, I'm excited to play Everquest. I'm looking for a guild, or a group of people that wouldn't mind having somewhat of a newbie hang around. I'm definitely not asking for hand outs or for someone to hold my hand through everything because half of the experience of classic is just trying to survive and live on your own in this game, but it would be nice to have some people to play with possibly.

I also have some questions about classes, currently playing a High Elf Magician named Lusiel, but I'm not quite sure if this is the class I want to play. I'd like to play something that's wanted in groups/raids, pets are always a plus, I usually play melee classes in games but I feel like the spellcasting classes have a lot of appeal in Everquest.

Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from some of you soon. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Welcome Aboard. Yeah Mage will work out just fine. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] No need for a lot of gear, and they are great farmers with their pets. Just takes a reasonable amount of skill to pull it off, but that is why I like them so much. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As one who played a Mage to level 84 on Live, I can tell you that:
1. Mages are great soloers.
2. Mages are underappreciated in groups.
3. In a group that knows their stuff Mages are much appreciated because we can split double pulls and off-tank adds with our pets if there are no mezzers in the group.
4. Mages are a walking Quik Stop with all the stuff we can summon. Even at level 1 we can summon a magic daggar that can hit mobs that are invulnerable to non-magic weapons.
6. Forget about ever getting your Epic unless you are in a big time guild.

Mages are a lot of fun. I always love pet classes and having 4 elementals to choose from in any situation is very cool. Usually I go with fire b/c their DS is so big that it murders mobs, especially at low levels.

These are 4 quests that you will absolutely want to do. I listed them in order of importance (IMO). They are for the 4 mage pet focus items. Their stats are not impressive but their effect is. They make your pets have more hp and also make them appear larger. Each one also has a clicky that is a mana free way to reclaim your pet. This can be used in a variety of ways. The amount of mana you get back is proportional to your pets current % hp. So if you reclaim a pet at 100% hp you get almost 100% of the spell cost back. If you reclaim a pet that is almost daed, say at 5% hp, you get roughly 5% of the cost of the spell back.

If you are soloing and your pet does over 50% of the damage to the mob (this does not include DS) it will take 50% of your exp. So you either have to out damage your pet (not worth it at low levels, just let your fire pet murder everything) or you can let the pet get the mob to low health and then use those handy dandy focus items I mentioned and reclaim your pet and finish the mob off with a nuke. If you are in a group (even just a duo counts) then your pet will never take exp. You can let it do 100% of the damage and you will both get full exp. Some people say that you need to do at least 1 point of damage to get the full exp, this is not true. I have duoed on my ench with a cleric and we rarely do dmg to the mob and always get full exp.

Oh, and I use the wiki for everything. Those quests I linked are from the wiki and here is the homepage. http://wiki.project1999.com/

I hope this info helps. Welcome to P99 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
