![]() Hi all.
Curious about this combo's strategies. Buddy is playing a rogue, and I think Shaman is the best complement for overall xping. Although kiting with a Druid sounds tempting, I like that Shaman can handle indoors better. The only real strat I can think of is proximity tanking with Shaman by rooting. Anything else viable? I feel like this will have a lot of down time not being able to canni consistently, and also real difficulty splitting mobs. Any good strats? Should I pick a class other than Sham? I do feel like we could easily pick up a random 3rd for great grinding too.

![]() Bard or druid could be a good class both have snare dot that will keep agro on you. Letting the rogue run behind and backstabe. Bard also has lull at lvl 14 to help split mobs.
Sham slow and tank is another option, just more down time.

![]() Slow+blind spam and profit, sham/rogue does decent. Will get better as the shaman gets better slows.
A tank partner would be arguably better, but a rogue is pretty awesome too. Sneak pulls go a long way.

![]() In theory a snarer + rogue in an outdoor zone is the best strategy. But it is also extremely tedious on the rogue and as you mention lacking indoors.
Shaman/Rogue works well at 60 when you have Torpor. Before then you're going to be relying a lot on regening fast (I'd suggest Troll and Iksar), limiting your Canni. I'd say slow -> heal self, root if needed. The rogue can evade to drop aggro, slow should keep you high up there anyways. Buff yourself with regen, haste rogue, slow mobs, repeat. Basically this until 50ish. At which point if you have your epic it may be faster to just root rot and have the rogue AFK lol... Especially at the 55-60 level range where the mobs you get good exp off are tougher to tank even when slowed without much downtime to heal.

![]() Shaman and Rogue should work very well.
Rogues usual problem is defense but thats not much a problem with Shaman slows. Rogue already has the best melee offense and its augmented with haste and other buffs.

![]() Rogue/shaman in low 50s was one of the best duos I've done, but my rogue partner was pretty good at front stabbing

![]() Just don't think front stabbing is supposed to happen like it does here. Someone said awhile ago this server has a hidden 200 ms ping, which I think is what allows people to get behind mobs before the mob's position updates. Mobs on live faced their target much quicker than on P99.
Backstabbing in PvP is wrong too. I don't think run through jousting backstabbing works. You have to sneak in stabs behind them, which is probably better from a gameplay perspective, but isn't classic.

Run through joust backstabbing was in classic and it's kind of lame it isn't here in p99. Makes PVP really difficult for high ping time players like myself. Don't remember front stabbing even being in the game back then, I remember them adding a mechanic to allow for it later on in EQ. I was a noob back then so I could be wrong though. Also tested the ID thing, guy is wrong ID seems to have nothing to do with the melee skill CD.
