Default Noobie question on starting cleric gear

I am looking for some advice on which equipment to buy for a halfling cleric if I only have 300pp (my main is lvl 22) available and a friend already crafted me a full set of small fine steel plate.

When I was in your shoes a few weeks ago, I bought bronze and a Water Sprinkler of the Forgiven to bash stuff with to farm HQ Bear Pelts / Deathfist Belts in EC.

AC is really useful as a cleric, since you get punched a lot. Especially in groups at low levels with thanks that can't hold threat.

Jasper Gold earrings are pretty cheap and pretty decent value (+3Wis for ~25p)

Charred Guardian Shield is 150-350p depending on the seller you find and it's good AC and 9 Wis.

Ring of the Stonechanter can be pretty cheap. 4ac, 3str, 3wis

If you don't have them get a pair of Monestone rings. 60 mana and 6 strength is great for the plat cost. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Some stuff you can do as you level, not hard to get a bloodstained mantle to drop out of Unrest and similar stuff. Look up the cleric class page for some ideas [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Whatever you do, buy +Mana rather than +wis, it's WAY better until you're 30 or so in terms of effectiveness. I like to also load up on +HP some, because dead.

IMO at low level you're best off investing in your weapon. Get a Springwood club for around 200.

Be sure to haggle and save as much as you can for spells. All of this will give you a decent ratio weapon, +3 Str, +3 sv Magic, 12ac, 70hp and 80 mana, which at low levels is not too shabby. Then when you upgrade, you can sell them for what you paid or you can stick them in a bag to twink your next toon.

Your spells will be the best equipment you can get. But don't waste plat and book space buying ones that you won't get much use out of (e.g. ones that are quickly upgraded).

Note some of your hp buffs are also actually heals, such as Valour (and I think perhaps Centre).

If you are having problems with your heals getting you aggro try using your buff spells to heal instead as they don't generate so much hate.
