Default EQ crashing

This happens pretty rarely, but it has happened twice now and I died both times, so I figured I would see if there is an easy fix. Both times it has happened the client crashed while I was in the middle of a kite, crashed completely to my desktop with no error or anything. I looked up what was happening in my debug log and found the following:

Quote:
2010-10-27 18:04:03 D3DXCreateTextureFromFileEx() failed to create texture spelc3.tga for particle system.
Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks!

I would love it if it was figured out. I have this complete crash happen enough to remember it and hope it doesnt happen again. Funny enough if it happens, I dont usually have it happen again after logging back in.

Mine occur with regular in your face fighting, no kiting.

After some Googling this appears to be an issue with either the driver or Direct X so I'll update both tomorrow before I log in and let you know if it happens again (which could be awhile.. like I said, it's only happened to me twice in a month).

EQ fails to resize with some frequently after windowing out and then expanding the EQ window again via alt tab.

Also, occasionally, and usually after a zone or just as a mob dies, eq locks entirely and the only way to continue is to power off the computer.
