Default Anybody remember Issued Footman Armor?

Just for shits and giggles, I logged on to my oldest character on Live last night. A level 22 Erudite Magician that I rolled on the Innoruuk server three weeks after EQ first hit the shelves back in 1999.

He's wearing nearly a full suit of Issued Footman armor. The pieces are listed on Zam, but not on the Wiki, so I am guessing that particular set got removed from Live (and thus from P99) at some point.

I have no idea how I got it, whether it was a quest or a drop. It's all no-drop stuff, so I would've had to have gotten it via one of those two methods. Any of the really old-school old-schoolers remember this stuff and where it came from?

I think that's stuff from future expansions that won't be released here.

Can't be. I stopped playing this particular character in June 1999 when the Brell Serilis server opened, and haven't leveled him since. That was well before Kunark.

Yeah. Issued Footman armor was newbie "no drop" armor at the very classic beginning. The chest slot had like 3-4ac. I don't think I ever knew what it was for. It was basically the same as cloth.

Here's a fun little guide on removed items.

The "issued" set of gear was given by GMs on live when someone lost their corpse and/or returned playing. I only saw a couple sets of it personally, and that is what the players told me happened.

Also I never saw any more after 1999. Maybe it was a policy removed by the time Kunark was released.

I remember it as well (it was GM/Guide given armor).

Do your pieces have the cloth graphic when worn as well as their icons?

Yeah, cloth graphic. But I can promise you they weren't given to me by a GM, because I never interacted with a GM in any capacity on Innoruuk aside from getting my last name, which still required a /petition at the time this character hit 20. (The /surname command wasn't put in until July or August of 1999, as I recall.)

The link provided by Thulghor upthread suggests that they were part of a quest that was removed in the earliest days of the game: turn in 4 ruined wolf pelts to a quest NPC. That actually sounds about right, so I'm gonna go with that.
