cant get the install to work

no matter what I do I cannot get the game to recognize the dsetup.dll file and therefore cannot play the game. have installed the game 7 times now.

Just copy your eq folder off your main setup to a flashdrive and run it from there

Whitelist the everquest folder with your antivirus and repatch v36, alot of AVs delete the dsetup.dll file. Wrong subforum btw.

dsetup.dll is coming from the p1999 patch, not the one from the original install (so stop reinstalling)

then go into your antivirus program and tell it that dsetup.dll is a safe file (it thinks is a bad file so it eats it)

then reapply patch so dsetup.dll is back where it suppose to be and try again

and OP, if you are on linux^ capitalization matters, needs to be (can't remember which) but either all caps or all lower case, missed that one myself for a good few hrs.

If you're on Windows not sure what to say hehe

delete mccafe! even if you try to remove it, it usually hides still. need to end its program and rip it out by the roots(delete its root folder).
