Default Lvl for Iksar to move to the mainland

I recently started an Iksar monk as a change of pace to my only other character, a lvl 21 Halfling Druid. I want to have good faction with the other cities, especially Freeport and Qeynos which have monk quest lines. Not having access to a trainer or bank will be very difficult though, so I was wondering if I could get some feedback about how and when to do that. I don't have much cash, so buying expensive faction-related items isn't an easy option.

Should I wait till 17 when I get FD trained? Are there a few no drop items I should pick up in Kunark first (Hangman's Noose would be amazing, but it sounds like they're hard to get if you're just hoping for one to be left rotting)?

Thanks

I THINK as a monk you can probably bank in NFP with wolf form? I am not 100%, might wanna ask other iksars. Or fd bank but it's dangerous. It's not too bad to bank in cabalis either just gotta take Oasis raft to firepot island. You will definitely get more exp in FoB/Kurn's tower till your very early 20s.. but.. you wont build faction or make as much pp or get as much drops. So it is a tradeoff if you wanna head to FP right away.

I'd stick on Kunark if possible, training skills on your monk only becomes a hassle otherwise.

LOIO at 18-23 perhaps then the Warslik's giant fort (to 30ish) is a popular way to go.

Thanks for the suggestions - guess I'll stay put for now. I guess massacring orcs and gnolls for faction should be quicker when I'm higher level, at least. Not having access to EC is a hindrance, but my Druid can handle the necessary buying and selling.

Won't need any of those factions! Focus on xp, and 60. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I ran my Iskar to ec at level 5. Fob was always empty at the time and there were always folks running past Orc camps buffing low level character and handing out low level gear.

Hey there. As an Iksar Monk who went through this exact scenario, let me tell you how I wt about it.

I leveled in Kunark until 17 when I got FD. After that, I got a port to WC and began my journeys amongst the rest of the players. At first it was difficult seeming, but there are a few very useful tricks you can learn.
1. TRAIN SNEAK and practice it! There is a NPC named Bubar in the EC tunnels (in the big room with Shady dealer) who will sell to you once you use sneak behind him. He is not KOS so you can stand there trying to get sneak to work as long as you need. Once you're successfully sneaking, stand behind him and right click. He will sell / buy with you. Bandages, Water, Iron Rations, and gems if you have too much plat and wanna hold gems instead of 200pp.
2. HIGHKEEP! This will be dangerous at low levels, but it is doable. You can FD flop your way down to the basement and there is a lady banker there before the goblin area. Ther are many guards but no casters , so just feign, wait for cool down to come back up, stand up run, feign again. Rinse and repeat this process until you are FD'd under the banker herself. Then stay down and right click her. You can bank here. It's a bit of a hectic run through Kitchicor, but FD is a life saver. Use the Wiki p1999 as a map reference. You'll have to flop by lots of KOS npcs , but it's inevitable in your life as an Ikky so get used to it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
3. Lastly, a lesser important tip - the gypsy camp in Oasis has throwing daggers for sale to make for easier pulling.

Good luck! Welcome to the game - send me a tell if you need any assistance or have any more questions

Learn how to sneak pull. I feel like putting my hand through my face every time I meet a level 40+ monk who has never heard of sneak pulling.
