Default New barb shaman questions.

My main is a rogue, my other alt is an sk. I have never played a full caster class and am kind of new to the idea of soloing. I made a barb sham and bought myself a fungi tunic. I figured regen coupled with fungi would be amazing with canni. I just don't know what or where to solo. The only guides I found was for evil shams....I don't wish to ruin my faction. Currently lv 19 and hanging out in upper guk snagging groups....but I get very bored healing all of the time. Any advice would be greatly welcomed!

How is healing in a group more boring than root rotting in a corner somewhere?

Here is my path to soloing to 60.

1-5 Everfrost
5-15 Blackburrow
15-30 Permafrost
30-40 Splitpaw
40-54 CoM
54-60 HS

Enjoy!

Shamans will be healing on and off for most of their days, are you sure you wouldn't prefer to put that fungi on a monk?

My advice would be to head to EK and kill spiders, gorge hounds and the like... maybe South Karana for aviaks and wandering mobs if not.

14 levels of solo in CoM? Highly unlikely with the competition for mobs in there at peak time Orruar, but otherwise a good list! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've also got a lv 19 shammy (very slightly twinked compared to the above) too, parked in Perma. I have never attempted soloing more than the non-casters in the entrance section. The way i do it is melee/nuking and rooting any adds. mobs go down quickly but i burn a lot of mana and have to med a lot which equals downtime. Why i use this blunt tactic is that root rotting seems not that effective at this level, is that correct or is it my lack of skills?

Shamans are pretty poor soloers for a long time. If you have the money to buy a fungi, though, invest in a nice weapon like a jade mace for early on and a poison wind censer for level 20+, and a haste item. You'll find twinked meleeing much more effective for a long time than root-dotting.

The first few levels might be rough since you're probably stuck doing stables/ent, but by 46 you can do arena, moat, temple, even 2nd floor if you're an enterprising chap.

Also, I did 40-50 in solb/guk since it was pre-Kunark, but I wish CoM had been around!

Most shamans do CoM around that level range to knock out epic faction in the process of exping.

What I've done so far on my twink shaman (Fungi, FBSS, Poison Wind Censor/Granite Face Grinder):

5-24ish - soloing and grouping in Upper Guk
24-29 - Aviaks and Centaurs in South Karana, gnolls outside of Paw
29-39 - Guards in Highkeep Hold (Who cares about faction with Evil Freeport guards and Highkeep? The EXP is incredible.)

Thanks for the advice! My warrior has an fbss and a poison wind censer that i could borrow for now. Fungi is totally out of my budget. Although I am dreading getting the 2hb skills up from nothing. Although the fbss will speed things up a little bit at least.

For Barbarians (only) the Barbarian Spiritist's Hammer is a really great melee option. It isn't too expensive (5k, maybe less?) and from level 30 on it procs the same nuke as the JBB (which you can't use until 45). If you melee the whole fight you'll usually get at least 2 procs in, which adds up to a lot of damage.

As for where to solo ...

wiki.project1999.com/Per-Level_Hunting_Guide

Although it's technically for any class, it was compiled by a Shaman (me) so it's chock full of great places that a Shaman can solo.
