Default LD then unable to use internet connection until cpu restart

After searching many o' threads I cannot find the answer (or if others have the exact problem).

My home internet (ATT U-Verse) allows me to connect to the server just fine and sometimes play upwards to 3 hours with problem. Generally within 45min (+/- 30min) I go LD and have to exit out of the game. When I exit out of the game the internet no longer works on the computer until I restart the machine. This doesn't happen after zoning or not zoning etc.

I thought for sure that this was a computer issue BUT I ran a test at another place (not work *cough*) and I stayed logged in the entire 12 hours, 4 days in a row.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Both connection were wired

You say both connections "were" wired. Are they no longer wired? Also, which service pack are you using with XP? Does this only happen when you're playing EverQuest?

I have a similar problem at my girlfriend's house, but on my regular internet it's fine. Really annoying. But I don't think I have anything in common with Azzbad besides the issue we both seem to be having.

Yes both connections *are* wired.

SP3 on Win XP.

I find it very strange and hard to fix because of it working one place and not the other.

I also have ATT Uverse(socal) and have 0 problems with this.

Have you
1. tried resetting your gateway?(not to defaults, just recycling the power on it)

2. contacting ATT? though the people who answer these phones arent usually the most helpful to people who aren't retarded(reset your cable modem? oh you tried that? well do it again. oh it didnt work? tech otw in 4-4,565 days, are you going to be home?).

I've found Uverse support much much better than previous companies(also, the Tech who installed it gave me his card the day he installed and I called him once when support sucked and he told me how to fix it in 2 minutes over the phone.)

actually I have a very similar problem. I use Shaw internet and 1 out of ever 10 times I zone it will just drop my IP address. I will have to click the connection and repair/diagnose the issue then click to reset the network adapter. This only ever happens when playing EQ. Also the exact same problem could happen randomly while I am just grouping.

My IP only drops in EQ. It has never done it any other time.

I am sure if you just renew your IP or right click on the connection icon and "Diagnose/Repair" it that it would solve your issue without restarting your computer. As far as a long term fix...*shrug*

I have contacted ATT and they tried to fix the problem to no avail. I told them the whole story, waited until I got dropped and couldn't use the internet and caled them again. They tried a few things and then the last thing they wanted me to try was restarting....which I told them over and over was the only solution I had found up to that point.

I have restarted the gateway multiple times to no avail either.
