New Player stuck as soon as....

I followed the install guide to a T. As soon as I launch the game, I can see the Everquest mouse cursor and can move it around and the cursor changes when I right click.

Everything else is black and I can hear no sounds. I can see nothing but my mouse cursor.

Any suggestions?
