What book are you reading now?
Not sure why the old thread is closed /shrug
Anyway. I got on a scifi kick recently and quite by chance, after my wife made me take her to the library while we were out and about and I grabbed this off the shelf: [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I finished that trilogy in about a week, and while it was pretty good, (low, low spoilers inc) there was also a lot of the details that didn't stand up to any scrutiny. I also didn't know, going into the trilogy, that it was actually a collection of short stories/novellas rather than 3 novels, which kinda bummed me out as I read; JUST as soon as I would get into one of the stories, it was over (rather suddenly and anticlimactically, perhaps by design). Anyway. Now reading: [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The first chapter was the best first chapter in any book I've ever read, I think. Wow. And the ones since have been funny and serious at the same time. I've never seen the movie, but the book's action so far feels like watching Black Hawk Down, while the rest of it so far (only on like chapter 6) has felt like watching Full Metal Jacket. | ||
