Question LAN Parties

I know (and agree with) the strict anti-boxing rules on P99, but does that make it impossible to have occasional LAN parties with my RL friends who also play P99?

I've got several friends who have all gotten back into EQ via P99 and it'd be really nice to be able to play in the same physical location from time to time.

The IP exemption system seems strict and I hear it takes a long long time to ever get processed. Would a request for something like this even get approved? Is there some way to LAN that I'm not aware of without breaking the rules?

I have a dozen RL friends and we've all gotten IP exemptions over the years so we can play together. Just follow the rules on IP exemption and make the correct kind of post.

It doesnt take a long time to get a exemption unless devs are real busy or you dont put all the info that is requested in the sticky post in petition forum. But dont expect to put it in today and have by friday unless its slow. You could get around the restriction if your friends all have smartphones that they could tether to their pcs.

Thanks guys, that's reassuring. I had just heard second hand that exemptions take a while, but I guess the sooner it gets requested the sooner it eventually gets processed.

I'm really enjoying the game, I just don't want to get banned for an unintentional rule violation.

My brother requested an exemption for us to play on the same IP and it was approved the same day. I think we only waited a little under 2 hours.

He also posted a GM Ticket on the server while we were waiting. I bet they'd hate to get a ton of these but it might have helped us along. We unfortunately did not know of the restriction ahead of time and set aside the time to play so I am very grateful they helped us the same day.

I've got a couple RL friends who live in a different town who play, and when I go to that town we play together. I got a couple exemptions for that purpose. So far no issues. Just don't be an asshole and try to take advantage of it. If there's two people playing two characters, the GMs won't give you any shit. If there's one person playing two characters, the GMs will find you and they will string you up RAW HIDE

Every song I play is actually just me screaming the 1812 Overture in a raspy, shrieking falsetto.

Wat? LAN gamers that cant afford to have their own dedicated hot-spots devices?!? Blaspheme! Best to just tell your friends to l2p and find new ones [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
