Default racial crafting worth it??

Is trying to craft racial armor and weapons worth it.... for a new player?
how much is the cost (time/plat), anyone tried this and got a story to share about it?
how about materials.. are they still hard to get?

Not until the Gem requirements are removed a few months into velious. Until them most of the armor requires gems that make the armor not worth it in most cases.

To get to around skill 175 you will spend anywhere around 400-600p. The reason for the range all has to do with stats helping you and selling what you make compare to just selling back to the vendor to resupply. I wanted to get my skill rather quickly so I just burned through the plat to get it to 175. Going to start working on Fine Steel after I get a couple levels on my Druid.
