Default Okay, okay, okay, fine. I'll bite. Question about Red.

If it's EQ, my main's a dwarven paladin. That's just the way it is.

Alts, yada yada...

The question: Is PvP just a nightmare for any gear-dependent class?

I don't mean to ask "does such and such a class pwn"? What I want to know is that if I'm playing and see another character, do I pretty much know I'm toast if they're in the same level vicinity?

I can't stop thinking of EQ PvP as anything more than "people that CAN kill you WILL kill you"... I had one, shitty experience on a PvP server during live. I got corpse camped upon dropping in as a L1 DWF PAL and thought "Well fuck this."

Some of the blue stalwarts here on the Forums who switched have tempted me in my blue boredom for a new pill. There's only so much you can do in four years as a pure duo (wife and I) and not get bored with it, and we've zero interest in pushing and elbowing into the raid scene...

I guess the real question is: Is it even worth it to try a paladin on Project 1999 Red? (I'm not asking is it loleasy, just asking if a person that's easily frustrated by the accidental mean-ness of humans should be entering a world where he's done nothing more than give others even MORE tools to grief...

Sell P99 Red to a DWF PAL.

I just came to Red 99 after installing the game again, I am gonna be honest I have met some super awesome people over here and I didn't have to look for them, they came to me. The PvP aspect comes in fighting for camp and/or zone control with your friends or guild.

Search out Lemonjelly on Red99 in a guild called Uprising, they take in all new comers and theres always plenty of folks xping you can hang with.

1. I first created my Enchanter, a Halfing Druid was in Neriak and PMed me stating come to waterfall. So I went he gave me 25p and buffed me out of the blue.

2. I was approached by a High Level Enchanter who pretty much forced a new robe and belt on me lol and buffed me. She buffs me everytime she is in my area,

3. Found a buyer for my bone chips and he paid me double and would not let me take less.

Don't let the PvP part of the name run you off. This is an awesome server and if more people know how awesome it was there would be triple the population. You are going to find pricks on Red99, Hell you have pricks on Blue99. Come on over and enjoy the server and don't get flustered. Plus Red99 has the most entertaining ooc chat in any game lol

/tell Lemonjelly
/tell Alethal

/tell anyone in the guild Uprising for an invite and have fun.

Yeah I've already learned about "Nihi" and "Uprising". I logged in and they're flinging shit at each other in global ooc. Already shaking my head at myself.

I'd turn off ooc or put it in a minimized window for the first couple of weeks.

Paladins are good, they'll drag a pvp fight out for a long time...you'll need to get good at "jousting" as with any melee.

SKs are probably more favored for their HT but you'll enjoy it. Short races are always a good idea as you're harder to click in a crowd or whatever if you're constantly running back and forth through ogres/trolls etc.

Give it a try, if you get some plat together I'll make you some starter JC'd items up at cost including some +7 MR bracers [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If you let ooc run you off Red99 is not meant for you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Personally I "love" our ooc, you can't help but laugh at it.

Don't worry, playing on Red will soon kill any sense of shame or decency you had

Don't take OOC too serious, it's all part of the red entertainment...the wordplay, people trying to ruin others reputations, plenty of stuff that'll raise a smile.

If you went onto a Teamspeak or two you'll get the humor soon enough [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There are people in the server who play it like a FFA first person shooter, but they are a minority. That said its important to be aware if who is in your zone at all times. Many players bind /who to movement key. Make friends and form groups, that way people have your back in pvp and you are nt auto kos. If trying to level fire a tell to guy in range in your zone ask him to group before pvp happens. Just watch your back if he ignores that tell. Corpse camping is not tolerated by serer staff. If you call lns in ooc they must let you loot, but you are bound to leave the area.

Gear dependent classes have it a bit rough( burin wouldn't say any more so than blue), but similar to blue decent weapons are abundant in kunark and can be found cheap or even free. Melee are actually fairly well equipped on the server for pvp as hit rate is pretty absurd.
