Default Woo! Vanilla!

Hey guys, Maranik here. Found this place and love it so far. Been lurking on the forums for like 2 weeks now and learning as much about P1999 as I can. Played EQ for years and years, miss the group dynamic so much. Actually found out about p99 googling MMO's most like vanilla EQ.

Couple questions. I play to slay internet dragons. That is just how it is...raided in EQ all the way up to OoW, in WoW starting in BC, and LotRO briefly. I'm hooked, so I'll be here for the long haul. As near as I can tell, if you want to raid and kill everything, red seems to be the best bet. Is this true?

Second, obviously wanted classes are the usual, dps, support, healer. My question, which is historically on red/blue most desired for raids and also has decent solo power? (First toons, so I'm poor as hell and can't travel in a flash). I know the trite old saying play what you enjoy, blah blah. I enjoy raiding and playing with people, the pixels are merely a gateway to that. I find any class that allows me to do so enjoyable. I played a monk, cleric, shaman, and necro at max level in EQ. Every single toon in WoW for server firsts, thats right, all 11 of them. I know that being poor and wanting to have some solo power cleric and warrior are probably out of the question. Correct me if I'm wrong. Would prefer the ability to play anywhere and not be locked to specific areas for soloability.

I know, what class is asked a lot. It gets old. I'm just looking for a suggestion based on desirability and soloability. I can figure it out for myself, I don't need a breakdown, but suggestions from those in top guilds based on what classes they are always looking for would be great.

I can't wait to meet you all, and someday help you down crap in Velious, best expansion to the best game ever!
