Game Mechanics: MOBS warping in EC

I just returned to P99 after an absence of a few years. It's wonderful to play some old EQ again! I have leveled up to the low teens and have been killing yard trash for exp.

On several occasions, when the mobs get under 20 percent and flee, they warp to another part of the zone. A few seconds later, with them still targeted, they disappear from my targeting altogether. On one of these occasions, the mob somehow came back and attacked me, so I was able to finish it off. Every other time, it seems to have warped away then disappeared from the zone entirely.
