Default drop rates?

Is there anything on the wiki regarding the likeliness of uncommon or rare drops or things of the sort? I've tried their search.. I noticed sometimes you can visually see a mob wearing an item and after you kill him you find to note that he had a unique item, like a greater scalebone with a unique wand for example. I've killed hundreds to possibly thousands without getting something unique. How often does it happen from mobs? or bosses?

Ahhh, I'm not entirely sure I understand your question 100%. But, yes its possible to not get stuff for 100's of kills.

I'm nto sure about the wiki, i don't use it. But some mobs have commons, uncommons, and rare drops.

There are a few zones with random drops off of trash (chardok) and then there are drops off specific mobs like in lake of ill omen (legionnaire's can drop bracer of the hidden). Just killing a random trash mob like skeleton will not result in a rare/unique drop unless it is specific to the zone. The chance of a drop is usually broken up into ultra rare, rare, uncommon, and common drop, though I have never seen a specific percentage attached to the chance (official).

Would that mean that greater scalebone would be specific to kurns tower? A friend of mine got a wand worth 5k pp from a scalebone in kurns.

I would say that if a scalebone in Kurns had anything of value it was because someone charmed it and gave it the wand (maybe a high level hooking up a newbie). But you can always use the p99 wiki and look at Kurns zone to find out what drops in that zone.

solists icy wand drops from ice bones in kurns...prob what he means.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Solist's_Icy_Wand

one of the great things about eq is that mob difficulty does not necessarily mean better loot. there are tons of items you loot or quest at low lvl that remain with your char forever...they don't get numbingly upgraded every few levels the way they do in most modern mmos.

Pegasus Cloak in SK comes to mind. You can kill that turd 20 times and not get the Cloak. Someone kills it the first time ever and gets it. Frustrating. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
