Default What class should I start if I begin on Red P1999?

Just thinking of making a new character on Red. What would a good class be just starting out? And why? I am totally ignorant as far as if spells land with ease, often get resisted, if mage pets are useless in PVP, if melee land hits on casters well, etc., etc. So, any input on these thoughts as well as what class would be good to start out with would be nice.

A class that solos well that you enjoy playing. Druids and wiz are nice for a player starting out because less groups at lower brackets so you can move around to meet up with people if need be. Melees pretty strong but you need to gear em out.

Druid is easymode, but most importantly you should play a class you enjoy. If you play a lot during primetime or know how to easily make e-friends even rogue/warrior is doable. It's not nearly as hard as people make it out to be.

Best solo is Necro and Bard.

Necro gets shitty post 50 in PvP though. Can farm yourself some plats though!

clerics are pretty good here - though hell everyone wants a porter at least at 39 just to help organize grps

easiest class to pvp on? a twinked melee lol

bard prob not 2 bad even without much gr8 gear if played be a super skilled player'

everyone here knows how to play so ench is not ez in pvp for a first char, but are just fine with the right pvp spells and techniques with pets

what's great about EQ is that even in pvp every class has a role.

if you want to support (and not get killshots) pick enchanter, cleric, bard, paladin, shaman

if you want to get killshots go with wiz, rogue, SK, monk, maybe warrior

if you want to solo go wiz, druid, bard, necro.. shaman

actually thinking about it, shaman is probably one of the best classes for this server. you get to solo, your dots will land in pvp, you get a pet, tons of buffs, move speed, potions, and even FD from sky. just have to be OK with buffing ppl constantly
