Default Blank Server Screen

Reinstalled EQ, tried EmuLauncher, no firewalls.

Used to work just fine and suddenly no servers.

Only thing different I have done was windows update.

Well, this was an easy fix, just bypass eqemu launcher and select the server in game.

Either read the faq stickied on this page (the one in my sig) to set up your eqgame.exe to launch without the launcher, or right click the launcher after its on and click launch eq.

Don't be mad.

The issue is out of your element and everyone elses.

Will post solution if found but it won't be.

Blank server screen on the EQEmuLauncher or blank server screen within EQEmulator after you've logged into EQEmu's login server?

If the EQEmuLauncher isn't displaying any server for you to select, just don't use it. Its 3rd party software that's completely unnecessary.

I swear sometimes the EQEmuLauncher is more trouble than its worth. And I can't believe all the information regarding setting up P99 without the Launcher has been removed...

Here goes:
1) Default install of EQ: Titanium (other clients will NOT work). Copy/pasting the EQ folder from another install works just fine here. (For consistency, I'm going to assume you installed EQ to C:\Everquest so that the eqgame.exe path is C:\Everquest\eqgame.exe.)
2) Right-click on the eqgame.exe icon within your everquest folder, select Create Shortcut.
3) Right-click on the Shortcut to eqgame.exe you created in step (2). Select Properties.
4) In the Properties menu that appears, edit the target line to say "C:\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme. The quotes are only needed around the destination string if it contains spaces. Select Apply and then OK to close the properties box.
5) Open the C:\Everquest\eqhost.txt file in the text editor of your choice.
6) Delete whatever is in the eqhost.txt file and replace it with the following two lines:
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

7) Save and close the eqhost.txt file.
8) Download the latest eqchangesvXX.zip file from the patch notes. As of this post, we are on v27, found here.
9) Extract the eqchangesvXX.zip file into the C:\Everquest directory, overwriting any files it asks for.
10) Within the C:\Everquest directory, delete the following files to allow these updated zones to function properly on P99:
arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.eqg
nektulos.eqg
Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt

11) Log into the server with the account you created at EQEmulator.org.
12) Select Project1999: The Ruins of Kunark from the server list.
13) Enjoy playing on P99.
If its a blank server screen within the EQEmulator login server (after you've logged into Everquest), then you need to edit your eqhost.txt file (step 6 in the above instructions). I have had times where I've logged in and the server list has been blank, so I quit the Everquest program and log back in and everything is well. If you still cannot see servers after logging into Everquest, then its a firewall issue with ports and I'd have to do some research for an answer. But hundreds/thousands have found a solution to playing on this server, there is one for you as well. We just need to properly diagnose the problem.

^^^ what falkun said, which is all in both FAQs on this forum, minus the extra bit about firewalls/ports, which really isn't that difficult a fix.

Instead of being rude, you could do a better job explaining your problem, but again, if you're having trouble putting down EQ it may be better to be forced to step away!

From my FAQ:

Once you've made the shortcut, right click on it and select properties. In the Target line, make sure it looks like this:
"C:\your eq folder extension\eqgame.exe" patchme

The patchme part is required, or you won't be able to run the game using this file.
Afer doing this, make sure you're running it in compatibility mode (probably window xp sp2) and that it's being run as an administrator. This will solve a lot of problems before they crop up.

Lastly, please be sure your eqhost.txt file (located in your everquest folder) has the following in it (and ONLY this, you can edit it using notepad):

[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

Save and close. That's it! This will allow you to connect to the correct login server (instead of Sony's) and see all the EQEmu servers!

Ok, on to the FAQ! This will be as short as possible, as it is only answering a few basic questions.

Also from my FAQ, regarding making a post in tech discussion:

First off, please be patient and courteous. Myself and others who visit this board are happy to help, but if you come on here with a shitty attitude I will probably just skip over your thread and not try to help you at all.

That being said, please make a new thread. In the title, be as descriptive as possible about your problem (don't make it too long, however. Ex: HELP ME MY CHARACTER MODELS ARE ALL WHITE AND TORN TO PIECES AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO PLAY AND WHAT DO I DO is far too long. "Character models not displaying properly" is a much better, and more helpful, title).

In your thread, please provide as DETAILED a description as possible as to what your problem is. Also include your computers specs, operating system, and your ISP. If you do anything special to run EQ (ie, you run it in a virtual environment) please include this too. This will greatly expedite your technical question answer process, as 90% of the time I end up asking these questions anyway. It will save us both a lot of time, and my post count won't go up and make me look like I have no life.

The rule of thumb here is more detail is better. Please provide as much information as possible, including what you were doing before the issue started (if applicable), what you've done so far, and whether or not it has worked in the past.

Once your thread is up, please be patient. I promise that myself or someone else will get to it as soon as possible. If you don't get a response within an hour, don't freak out. Most of us have lives, and don't spend all day answering tech questions. Getting mad doesn't help anyone, least of all you.

As a side note, for most problems, you will be told to reinstall EQ. Obviously this doesn't apply for everything, but for many issues, this is the quickest, cleanest solution. Installing EQ doesn't take long, and can save you a lot of grief. If you're having an issue with the game itself, I highly recommend reinstalling before posting a new thread to see if that fixes your issue, because I'll probably tell you to do it anyway (if you've tried everything else on this list, that is). It will save everyone a lot of time, including you, because you won't have to wait for me to tell you to reinstall

It must pain you that the regurgitated information in your brain cannot solve this known issue.
