So I was camping a highly sought after mob. I was getting bored n tired and another player asked if the mob was camped. I politely answered yes.
Quickly thereafter, I offered them the camp. I was tired, but wanted to kill the mob one last time because it was being a pain. I told this player I was engaging the mob the last time and they proceeded to attack. I asked them to back their pet off yet they proceeded insisting I would KS. I was not convinced since it was a magi with backstab pet. They won the battle off of my mana and my fears. Now, I asked them not to loot out of consideration. This player looted and sat on the corpse for over 20 seconds then responded to me in say that there was nothing. This...was curious. The whole scenario was curious. What does a player do? Do I slander their name and say they are a KS'er or do I just tell friends and folks I know that they are not to be trusted?

Soon you will realize the only fun in Everquest is being a dickjerking killstealer.
Quit if you have the balls or join the fun.

This game does kind of suck at this point.
The only thing I can imagine being worse is spending a lot of time on the forums after I quit being some kind of evangelist trying to convince everyone the game sucks.

Yeah, I was noticing that after looking at some of the posts by bullet. They all harp the same tune. You'd think he'd be bored of a game/server that he trashes in, nearly 100% of his posts.

Well I guess Bullet KS'd my post even.
At any rate...anyone have input? What have you done? Please, avoid childish acts.

This isnt meant as a plug for WOW, because Ive played that and it has its own problems which Im not going to write an essay on right now, but as far as kill stealing and camps are concerned there are 2 major improvements Wow made over EQ. First is the first to get agro on a mob gets the kill, regardless of who does the most damage. No more getting quillmane down to 40% and then have some level 50 nuke the crap out of it and KS you in wow. The second is that in WOW you are essentially competing against the difficulty of the game. Yes I said it. The difficulty of the game. In EQ most of the "difficulty" is other players. The way things are made rare is by having a single serverwide spawn, which is then a rare spawn and requires you to camp it for long periods to get. So the supply for said items is very slow, but of course every man and his dog wants one, and thus people fight over camps, KS, train on another etc etc etc. None of this happened in WOW, with a couple of exceptions being a few world pops, mainly dragons, and guess what? WOW had exactly the same sort of problems with these spawns, and IMO these dragons should have been instanced too. I like a good challenge, and Ive enjoyed what Ive played of P1999 so far, but what I see happening at the high end is worse than what I remember from classic eq, and Im trying to tell myself that it really isnt worth playing my characters up anymore, becuase I know its just going to be continuous grief and fighting against other players, and frankly thats not fun. And no, Im not going back to WOW. Ive done that enough times already and im pretty much sick of WOW. Yes it is too easy for general levelling. I wouldnt say that about raiding, or at least the initial raiding that WOW presented before they released outland. Original Naxx and aq40 and even that dragon ionstance before you had the gear were pretty tough and demanded a lot of coordination. A lot of the encounters just took 1 person to fuck up and it would wipe the raid (electricity boss in original Naxx anyone) It was just the levelling up in WOW which was too easy, and too fast too. I hate it when servers are over 50% composed of max level people running about. Anyway thatsmy take on things here. The game sucks, period because it encourages bad behaviour from the players. Doesnt mean Ill stop playing it. I like the difficulty in spite of the problems caused by the other players. Im thankful I play during an odd time zone, so things aren't quite as bad, but its still hopeless trying to actually get some decent loot for yourself. Anything decent is camped 24/7. Blah.

small example: EQ - Leveling 1-10 is hard as sh*t when you're not twinked or buffed WoW - Follow the green line to lvl 20 (whatever the fluff the cap is) 2. EverQuest mob/item (spawn rates) availibility are completely intentional to avoid early mudflation. It's not for the sake of the community that you have spawn rates for some grind group mobs around 1/100, it's a direct fix to the game to avoid, as I said previously, an influx in gamebreaking items. At lvl 50 an FBSS is doing jack and sh*t in all seriousness, if your DPS sucks because you don't have an FBSS you're not equipped correctly. However, a lowbie with an FBSS might as well just go on autorun with attack on then come back when level 30ish.
