Default Highpass Gnolls and Orcs

I think they're currently giving too many faction hits.

Gnolls are only supposed to give these hits according to

http://web.archive.org/web/200104191...h.shtml?id=373

Factions:
Mucktail Gnolls

Opposing Factions:
Karana Residents
Karana Bandits
HighPass Guards

and are currently giving a bunch of extra and missing Karana Residents

Orcs should be giving these hits

http://web.archive.org/web/200106200....shtml?id=4919

Factions:

Shralock Orcs

Opposing Factions:
HighPass Guards
Kithicor Residents

they're also giving many extra faction hits.

Good find.

The extra faction hits are Carson McCabe and Merchants of Highpass - which should only be acquired by the quest turn-ins (Gnoll/Orc Scalps, Goblin Ears).

However, Bashil Shralock in Kithicor was confirmed to raise merchant faction.

is that killing gnolls/orcs in hph only raised hph >>guard<< faction (along with Karana Residents and Bandits (!)) You need to turn in scalps/ears to get merchants up, >>or<< kill Bashil Shralok in Kithicor. Illia's shows the other Shraloks are HPH Guard only, but I was going to see if that's true, as my rogue could definitely use better HPH Merchant faction so's he can get better prices for tradeskilling.

Good Luck!

That being said - there is more to the story. Between April of 2003

http://web.archive.org/web/200304021...ctionlist.html

and June of 2003

http://web.archive.org/web/200306022...ctionlist.html

We ended up with "Merchants of Highpass" that we currently have here. Prior to June '03 it seems to have been listed as "Highhold Merchants." Does any such faction even exist in the database, Nilbog? The two factions never existed at the same time, so it appears to have been a simple renaming but I would like to investigate it a bit further to see if all the affected NPCs were the same.

Finally, there also seems to be a Highhold Citizens faction http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/f...tml?faction=51 which if you read timestamped the posts it is revealed that the citizens were on the guard faction as an Ogre was able to raise their con by killing orcs which we know only gave guard faction then.

It does seem that Brill and Delila in Rathe Mountains are and always were on this Highhold Citiznes faction, however - and that it cannot be raised.

Does anyone know when the HHK revamp occured? I'm wondering if this was the cause of some of this confusion as I look into this further.

It doesn't exist in the database, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't. It could also be a case of instead of calling it the correct name, they just said HighholdMerchants. Screenshots or more research needed.

I believe highhold pass was updated, and highhold keep was not, correct? That revamp occurred in 2006. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/story.html?story=7720

I do know that eqmac had extra spawns in highkeep compared to what we have here. I believe it was 2 extra goblins, one of the extra being in the LR room for sure. Unrest also had more spawns in the house than what we have here.

Mobs were added to Highkeep in 2001 (crazed goblin, goblin thief, etc). Probably whatever patch added the Ghoulbane quest.
