My guild quit, what can I do to get control?

I don't really know where this goes so i'll post it here:
So the leadership of my guild quit many months ago, there was some speculation that one might have been banned, and shortly after with no new people coming in the other guild members slowly quit and went to other guilds, several promising they would be back once someone could invite them again and be able to get new blood into the guild.
I truly love the guild name, my fiancee and I were the only active players in it, and she quit playing.
Does anyone know how I would go about getting control of the now dead guild?
Is there a way?
Am I doomed to being in a guild of one?
Will our hero meet an untimely end? Stay tuned for- wait- wrong spiel... Could a GM do anything about it?
