Screen went black, and alt-enter just crashed my game

I just fucking lost my Vox tooth pet, im fucking livid.

The game randomly sent the entire screen black, and then alt-enter said "reset device failed"

Why did this happen, what can I do to fix it, why is my screen going black.

Set the game to compatibility mode. Don't switch characters or accounts without completely closing the game and reopening it
