Default 65 platinum stolen by a dwarf vendor in OOT
I petitioned this in game yesterday it happened on my magician, Malagar on the sister island. I sold all my loot just fine. Then scrolled his inventory for words i might need for research. I found words of dimension, just 1 of them for 5 gold and change, i clicked buy and it charged me 65 platinum and change and didn't even give me the words! I took a screen shot of this and will try to include it if i can figure out how.

What probably ended up happening was that the vendor is somewhat bugged and not updated, and when you went to buy the words, you bought something else instead.

no i know exactly what i had, and i didn't receive the words or anything else, I have had it happen before wehre i bought one thing and received something else instead, but not this time. He didn't even have anything worth 65 plat when i did this

Exact thing happened to me at the hall of truth in North Freeport. Took all my 70P and didn't give me an item, healing spell merchant watch out
