ench is basically a buff bot on raids. Mage and wiz supply some nice dps.

Everyone says to me that basically Shaman, Enchanter, Warrior, Cleric, and Bard (edit forgot monk) are the 5 (6) classes that hold entire raids together. They are all super required and any other classes are fluff, except for Paladins and Shadowknights, which are so weak they are inconsequential and not even able to raid, and wizards come close to as useless.

Of course, I think the player matters.

60 Wizards are useful. And you forgot rogues, no raid ever turned down another 55+ rogue. They can also help with corpse recovery.

Its nice to have one paladin for the stackable HP buff they get, but past that they are much better at grouping than raiding.

EDIT: OP, high level mages are a pretty rare class on p99 compared to others, and coth is a mage only skill that is highly useful for many raids. They also do decent damage if the player can control the pet. Necros are a common class on p99 and although they can help with raiding they arent the best at it.

Necro is a good choice for soloing.
Between Mage, Wizard and Enchanter, it depends on the situation.
Are you in a guild already? Check with them to see what is needed most.
If you don't have a guild, enchanter would be the best choice as they are useful for buffing and crowd control. If you just want to blow stuff up and see critical blows, do a wizard. If you want to be able to both solo and get some raid action handing out snacks and drinks, do mage.
If class doesn't matter and you want to always be on call for a raid, do a warrior or cleric. Although both those classes need to be well geared to be useful.

The only time I went on raids was on Live. There, my Shadowknight always served as DPS, and was useful for corpse recovery. Whatever. It got me the DKP to buy my plate for my CoV and Thurgadin armors. Fun at the time.

On P99? Nope. Not raiding. Still Shadowknighting.
