Default Having file issues

Hello,
I'm a returning player after some time away (last patch I used was v39), and I'm having trouble updating my spell list. I have the latest patch, v55, and have attempted two fresh installs. The issue seems to be with the dsetup.dll file. When I replace it with the v55 version, the game won't even start. However, using the v39 dsetup.dll allows me to reach the character screen, but then I get a "spell files outdated" message. The only file from the latest patch I'm missing is the dsetup.dll.

I'm playing on a 2012 iMac using Wineskin and have had no issues with this setup in the past.

Does anyone have any suggestions for resolving this issue?

v55 came out years ago and is 6 patches too old. You'll find the latest patch on the front page of the site

Yeah I believe it was v56 iirc that included the spell files for the last GM event which made all prior patches no longer work. They were allowing a few of the patches to still work in addition to the most recent, to a limit. With the expectation that functionality for anything other than the most recent patch would be turned off once they worked through some unintended tech issues the last patch caused for some folks.

I would try to most recent patch (think we're on v59?!?) and if that gives issues I believe anything from 56-59 can still work atm.

I'm saying this off the top of my dome, so may be some inaccuracy, as its not my issue to do the leg work on but the info exists on the forums to resolve your issues.
