Joining a levling guild is probably the best advice. This game can be quite unforgiving but also very rewarding. You probably got a taste of it running around at night time on a human^^
I would also like to mention Dial a Port as a great levling guild. A well run guild with active guild chat and theyre very helpful. Its mainly a Porting service guild but they invite other people aswell. Easy to get buffs and ports around Norrath
