If illegal immigrants are still making it in then the penalties simply aren't stiff enough. You'll never hit 100% deterrence but you can hit 90%+ with some very simple steps. Literally the entire argument that the border simply cannot be defended is based around a paradigm where nobody has the will to do what must be done because the solutions

Build the "wall", whatever it must be made of -- concrete, steel, armed Predator drones, or punitive lethal injection chambers. Ship them back, perhaps even in small urns for those who fail to report themselves to INS if it saves enough expense for Americans, and save your crocodile tears for these criminals and enemies of civilization, these cowards who have abandoned their own nation and people to depredation and humiliation and eternal dependency on the guiding hand of great nations such as ours for stability.
Stop anchor babies without eroding our constitutional protection of citizenship as a birthright by sterilizing unauthorized immigrants immediately upon detection. Anchor babies who slip through the cracks can be raised and assimilated by the State. Stop forcing American citizens to remove their shoes and prostrate themselves before a naked body scanner to enter a plane, and instead stop allowing categories of people who are high-risk for American citizens to enter our aircraft and our nation, or gain citizenship in the first place. American citizenship should be an extremely valuable commodity and provide a highly privileged existence. Looking forward to all the self-hating "world citizens" on this board shitting themselves in protest that a people should aim to elevate itself.

I would never dream of taking liberty from an American of any shade; only giving. I dream of raising up men and women of all races and colors. This includes those "anchor babies" who we are not able to prevent from being born here, who are protected by our Constitution. It is not the fault of such a child that our own weakness or incompetency at defending our borders allowed them to be birthed in the US, and we are obligated to accept them as citizens. They should enjoy all of the privileges of an American. Their families, though? Definitely not.
