forget hide and invis. invis takes too long to cast (and you need to target yourself) and hide can fail. The whole idea of charm solo'ing is to break your charm when your charmed pet is very low health, so failures on hide will mean your pet dying and no exp...or you'll have to be much more conservative and hit hide early to give yourself a chance to try again, which will mean spending more mana to finish off the mob.
you need a goblin gazughi ring. if you are charm solo'ing you can outfit your chanter with almost no money (for whatever reason, charisma items are very cheap and accessible). Buy a set of charisma gear and save up for a gazughi ring.
you can also camp it yourself at relatively low lvl if you would like to do it that way.
you won't be charming right from the time you enter the world...and you may find that you enjoy the enchanter grouping life once you start making friends.

You can charm solo just fine using invis, I've been doign it for 14 levels. The Gazughi ring is a 6k item ... what starting player has 6k? I don't even have 600pp at 26. And while the mob who drops the ring is easy enough to kill, finding it and getting it to drop is not so easy (or the ring wouldn't cost 6k).
Sure, the ring is nice to have and makes things easier and more efficient but you don't "need" it. For one, unless either the chamred mob or the target are dotted or poisoned, they won't continue to drop health while you take 3 seconds to invis yourself (in fact they will regen health). Also, it's pretty trivial to target yourself, cast invis, target your formally charmed mob and root it, then kill both mobs.
Good luck.
