City Guards

There are 2 issues with guards on Red that deserve a look

#1: Guards still don't assist against DoT spells that do no initial damage. If a bard/necro/druid finds me in town, why should my only option be to camp out? Make all detrimental spells cause guard agro

#2: Guards should assist the player with higher faction. This is a classic game mechanic. At the very least, change it so that a guard will never come to the defense of someone they are KoS towards. As it stands now, I could attack a person who is invisible by a guard they are KoS by, and the guard will still assist them.

#1 - spot on.

#2 - Eh... this is a tricky one.. I don't recall guards assisting trolls or ogres I was beating up on in many cases in Neriak (very distinctly remember friend's dark elf necro attacking a troll shaman running across bridge in Neriak Commons). So I score you a point there. However, in every case I can remember, they assisted me if I attacked another dark elf. I had done the red wine quest and I'm sure many players had not. I don't think you'll be able to find any evidence either way :( but GL.

Another point of mention: Do they correctly consider pets on this server? Haven't played a pet class here, faction should apply. I feel like this would be working.

if you are kos to guards, no way they should assist you. that makes no sense.

Make a post with all the places you think you should be kos. Good infos.

I'm definitely leaning towards the "whoever had higher faction" deal regarding guard assist. Very fuzzy memory on if they'd just assist each other based on race or if it only mattered that you were at least indifferent for getting NPC assistance... aka amiable attacks indifferent, indifferent stills gets assist... indifferent attacks dubious, dubious gets no assist. Note, this applied to non-guard NPCs too... I recall the ring druids (non vendors) jumping in and beating on people who attacked friendlies near them (hi2u creeping crud lol) and this included animals also iirc.

All halfling clerics start at least threateningly to ogres and trolls. Give me the specific npc name that is not thus to you and I can check it.

firiona vie guards currently do not assist when you cast spells(i was using bard chants and a bard mez) on someone else

however, they did assist when doing melee damage to someone

not sure if spells that do direct damage trigger guard assist or not

If this is in dispute, it's classic. That's not the way it's currently coded for the server, but that's how it was. If you were kindly and I am fondly (oh yeah, remember fondly??), when I attack you, the guard would assist me, as I'm higher faction. This is by memory, and research when working on pvp server. The current guard assist serves it's purpose, but isn't as elaborate as it could be.

You gonna put the red hat on there big Nilbog?

I'm sure it'll fit ya nice.
