Way back then I vowed to right this injustice should a fresh server ever be rolled out, because Knuckle turned out to be a very cool guy. Lo and behold I found the name Knuckle free after the character wipe last night. Can I just give this name back to Knuckle if there is no trade involved? Or is that against the rules?

Just pm knuckle. No need for this thread, It's like asking the police if you can speed.

I want to make sure this isn't a rule infraction though first.

Has there been a change of policy? In the past the GMs have allowed the selling of names, provided you follow the rules of "no rmt" and "no account selling." You basically agree on a price in pp, delete the name, and the other guy rolls it immediately. Most name sales are amounts of 2k-5kpp. In fact about 3 years ago there was a post where one of the GMs commented on it in the EC forum.

I'm pretty sure there's no rule against trading or giving names away, just do it. The rule is against account sharing/trading, which isn't necessary. Just let the person know when you're deleting the toon, and then they make it on their account immediately afterwards. No big deal.

Names used in beta are not going to be carried over for the actual green release. You can only use a name on green if you also own it on blue or if no one ones it on either server. Names are linked between accounts on each server. If you get Knuckle on blue, you will be the only one that can make it on green.
