It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.

That is why it was a bad call- The second situation is what occurred :cool: However, I'm not a Greenbay Packers fan or a Seattle fan so it didn't really affect me. Was another terrible call to add to the list though that the replacements have made and is an embarassment to the league. :D

Technically this would be considered simultaneous posession; tate had his hands around the ball in such a manner that if the defender didn't also have his hands on it..tate would've come down with the catch anyway. Really its not the refs fault, they are not qualified. The NFL is to blame for not making sure its league has the best refs available. I don't see that at all. Looks to me like they're both fighting for possession all the way to the ground. Jennings doesn't get both feet down until Tate has touched the ball 2 or 3 times with his right hand (his left hand obscured beneath the ball from most angles).

There's nothing I see in the replay that would overturn it either way, I think whichever call was on the field would have stood under further review.

Given the scrum of 5 players jumping for the ball, and the speed of the game, it'd be horrible to call it there. The official would essentially be guessing, and there's about 6 other things he's gotta be looking at.

Yep, glad the real refs are back...cause there were certainly bad calls being made, I just don't necessarily think the real referees would have made that packers/seattle call any differently then the "scabs".
