"Nip" is the corresponding derogatory term for Japanese folks, I think.
I believe it translates to "Tentacle Rapist", but don't quote me on that.

The term originated in the middle of World War 2, around 1945 during the American invasion of Filipino. After defeating the Chinese navy in the Battle of Midway (So called because it was midway through the war), the invasion force faced stiff resistance from the Luftwaffe. Around this time Germany was using a type of plane called the Zilch, and the bombs were made in China. Oftentimes the Germans would drop the bombs on the Americans only to find the bombs were duds, and hit the ground with a loud hollow *CHINK* sound.
The German POW's were reputed to have thereafter referred to their Chinese allies as chinks and the term stuck for the remainder of the Pacific Campaign. After the war the Americans renamed the allied-occupied parts of china Japan, and the Russians named the soviet occupied parts China. So I guess the term applies to both.
If you're looking to be sophisticated I would suggest the term 'zipperhead' to avoid ambiguity, this is a more straightforward, all-encompassing term and your friends will be impressed. This term originated in the Korean war when Americans would run the Japs over with tanks and the treadmarks on their heads made them look 'unzipped'.

I was about to correct you about the Battle of Midway, as it was called such because it took place in the Midway Atoll, not because it was "midway" through the war.
But then I noticed that the entire post was junk too so ...
There.
