View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Using invisibility to single pull

This was missed in the rogue hide/sneak fix.
This is game breaking and a pretty major problem and rather widely exploited.
If a player runs through a zone, or pulls a mob, being effected with invisibility should not mitigate the mobs ability to bring a friend (many friends even). All mobs that the pulled mob runs past should add.

Thread already exits, post your evidence.

I see no real evidence there saying it shouldn't be removed.
Why is a bug being kept in the game?

I never said there was evidence or not, I just said you should search before you make a post because sometimes posts get made then forgotten/pushed back a few pages because people post a lot of bugs! Take that initiative buddy.

Social aggro not functioning is a bug.

Would it sort of fall in line with this issue too?

If webpages written by player from 1999 are a source, I can round up some classic everquest players from Triton (Povar) and a few major guilds from Rallos Zek given time to tell you that if you rooted a mob, invised yourself and ran... and root broke? Everything would train along the way after you.
I can think of numerous times I did it myself.
It was a great way to train players? Sure.
But to pull mobs to a group or raid? Suicide.
Obviously attempts will be made to defend a bug that trivializes PvE.
The bug here is that the bring a friend code is broken by having the invisibility spell on you when you pull it.
I saw this on red and we were told anyone caught doing it would be met with a harsh penalty. Do you think that it really makes sense to pull the ghoul lord to the evil eye because you gated with invis to undead? How many people here who played classic EQ really think it wouldn't bring the house with it.
I would differ to Nilbog's judgement as he has been a fine arbiter of common sense in the past.

This is not true, being invis stops social aggro - always did in classic. I pulled off many an amazing pull in chardok/seb with it as a 60 rogue. The main issue is that aggro ranges on many things were far bigger than they are here.

I see another thread where people seem to think decaying skeletons would attack anyone. I disagree there and am correct.

That is one point you're correct on. decaying skeletons didn't aggro.

One of several points, but thanks

I believe we have a winner. Thanks for confirming this on Al'Kabor. This has been used to determine things before. Server will be one step closer to classic.

He's saying you're wrong and that invis does in fact stop social aggro on AK. Not only does your memory need some work but reading comprehension as well...

Please explain why I was told then by staff that doing this on Red99 would result in disciplinary action.
Because, I was =).
Awaiting judgement from Nilbog, then you can flame me all you want and I will graciously admit my fault. This bug is *dumb* and exploits the bring a friend system.

What does what you were told on r99 have anything to do with how classic game mechanics worked and how they currently work on AK?

Amelinda must have asked Nilbog or Rogean who responded to her that this is a bug and exploiters of it will be punished. That is why I created this thread to begin with and I do remember rooting something, invising and trying to run in classic resulting in mobs being brought along for the ride.
I'm not considering her to be a source of what is or isn't allowed, but if she talked to either of the 2 big dogs (and I'm sure she did to confirm) - then I'd like a response from them to confirm. We can stop the arguing here, someone has kindly created a rants and flames thread for us to resume bickering.
