Why is the server popluation going so low and how to save it?

SO i think everyone can tell the server population is crashing a lot lately and i just wanted to take a momnent to discuss why that is possibly happening and what can be done to fix it. The form of this forum post is going to basically take the format of me thinking out loud, and please comment however you feel like, the more cuss words the better.

So ideas for why the serverr poplution could be low.
1. Large guilds are killing the server by dominating the raid scene
2. Kunark is boreing as fuck
3. Server drama caused by competeing raid guilds has turned some people off
4. Abuse of power and claims of things are for the good or for live aspect but really serve no purpose
5. Diablo 3
6. Just the ebb and flow of any server population??
7. orr wait. maybe its because kunark has been out for 2 fucking years??

Ideas for how to fix it.
1. suspend the largest raid guild around for 2 weeks so other people can have a chance
2. GM enforced raid mob sharing
3. GM enforced everything
4. All people who like to raid like it was on live just go back to live via EQmac
5. hype of velious a little more...do some beta testing even if its really just to jump start the kunark population again...
6. Start never having GM events
7. randomly suspend people and offer nearly zero explanation
8. Make it more and more like Stalinist russia
9. Hire a GM with a giant blob on their foreheard to privitize the server
10. Make it a requirement all gnomes just go sit in a corner, dirty pecks
11. release some new content even if its custom...

word is it's because of a meaningless gorgalosk in sky that was kited but sirran was up so it couldn't really be killed (well, it could, but that would defeat the point of progressing further with keys or using sirran) since he wouldn't have respawned with a new sirran. The other guild wanted to kill him to stop the other guild from progressing and was mad about him being kited so they couldn't do it. dispute leads to petition. petition and bitching leads to where we are now.

Sounds like a lot of reaching to me.. i've been around for all the guild suspensions, this one seems to have the least backbone of them all. It seems like more angst than any real wrong doing.

And I'm usually the level-headed, nice one around =/ I don't get it at all.

I dont think you understand the mechanics of sky. TMO and BDA had a race for the noble cycle. TMO wins and gets 15 on the spawn and goes about killing. Knowing that TMO likes to use sirran to help kill the efreeti's, BDA begins killing lower island bosses to spite them. During this time, sirran is spawned and TMO grabs gorg (hoping to kill him and spawn a sirran with them) (also a non-kos mob) BDA does not want this and instead of using sirran for progression or for another kill, they tag gorg and kill it, while sirran is up from an earlier island, just to spite TMO so that they couldn't use him.

I guess if you want to call TMO the bad guy out of this one, go ahead

How is mobs going under the world not a server issue. The fact is you kited a mob wiped and staff gave u another chance because the zone glitched. The point is you were kiting a mob and are not suspended.

Not to mention if a guild did kite a mob a gm would redistribute the loot as needed or not allow the kiting guild the kill...not a suspension. Suspend BDA for kiting draco imo

I'm not upset that BDA decided to kill it. That's their own doing if they wanted to do it just to spite us. But since its a non-kos mob AND more importantly, to do sky correctly, you need to wait for sirran to despawn from other island bosses before you kill a new island boss- this should be adequate reason for why would wouldnt kill the mob right away when we pulled it. If BDA wanted to claim we were kiting it and wanted it right then and there, they have that right to kill it regardless of what were were doing, i guess, and thats what they did and more power to them. But this is not a kitable mob, per say, because we were just waiting to kill it, like all normal guilds would do in sky, because a prior sirran were up. If there wasn't a sirran up, we would have killed it right then.

The weapon-skill bug in-game makes it extremely frustrating for new players to level or ever have the desire to log in. Getting a weapon skill-up is like striking the lotto at the low end. It seems to get normal/faster at the mid-high range, but getting that 2HB, 1HB, 2HS skills 30-40 points under what it's supposed to be despite the fact that it's the only weapon you use makes you want to unplug.

Sadly, this issue was quickly fixed by Kanras after I reported it in the Bug forum but Rogean is taking his sweet time with patching it in-game. There hasn't been a patch in 2 months now.

I am sure dozens of other players quit for this same reason as me.

The server won't be wiped anytime soon, but I guarantee that if it did TMO would be a bottom feeder guild if it was actually held accountable for its actions.
