Everyone wants to hate on humans...until Velious when their Velious plate shits on all other bard races. And wood elves get the benefit of DRT, while my half-elf ass gets shit for plate in Velious and I can't use DRT now.

In the end, it looks like human bards come out on top, but I guess its all personal preference.
