Here I am sitting in my cubicle enjoying my hoagie... And, in the next cubicle over I here a group of guys talking about WoW and how it 'invented the 3D MMORPG' and singing its praises...

I lost my apitite. :p I'm a fag for letting their love of WoW annoy me... But, I just say there fuming about how wrong they were.

Now, there is a lot of debate out there about what ruined EQ Live. Most folks seem jaded by Luclin and beyond... I can't help but to feel a big part of what ruined it for me was EQ became dedicated to copying WoW and other MMORPGs and quit being an innovator.

First let me say I agree about the later statement. Once EQ started grasping at WoW players to get them to return, as well as always cocksucking the raid guilds, is when it died. I'm going to be blunt and honest (and put up my anti-madfag shield) when I say that had Luclin not released new graphics i'm certain 95% of the people that believe Luclin killed EQ would not be making that same claim right now...

Second. Whoever said WoW built the MMORPG genre, you need to punch them in the neck.

Even me, yes me, a WoW person Knows EQ was first in the 3D awesomeness. The first time I ever saw EQ I thought I lost my virginity, oozing, seeping, bone dry afterwards. I love em both but EQ has a certain nostalgia about it, a Originality. WoW is great, but EQ is Great too.

Tiered gearing/zoning is what killed EQ, not graphics or cats/aliens on the moon.

that sig i have shared with many friends over the years, we used to have a epic youtube video hour' every friday night after we started getting wasted. That particular video had me in tears laughing because my friend got real angry and said FUCK THAT EAGLE PIECE OF SHIT, WHAT DID THAT GOAT DO TO IT?

yes diggles has assburgers and is obese.. on another note.. eq lost its bang when WoW came out.. which was more appealing and easier for the average person trying to play a mmorpg. Blizzard had way more marketing skills then sony/verant. Chuck norris, mr.t or even ozzy. What did eq have some big convention with tons of nerds? Come on thats the truth why eq died because it just laid down

This is a sadly common misconception. WoW is derivative and simplified in an insulting way when you have the gaming experience to see it.
