I'm still fairly new to Project 1999, but it seems the servers have stuck to a classic timeline with the release of new content. While I do like trying to keep things as classic as possible, times have changed. What took 6 months in 1999 takes 1 month today. So what were left with is 200 people already 40+ chompin' at the bit for something to do.
In light of how the population has continued to waver in favor of content offered on blue and other new games, I think Sol Ro, quest armors and planes are needed to revitalize the server.
The server populations is deceptive, because people generally aren't quitting, they're just opting out for blue until theres something to do. Many have been 50 for a month already, and with only 3 dungeons and a few mobs to compete over, theres not nearly the incentive that EQ pvp servers had during the Planar/Kunark/Velious eras.
I propose we step up the timeline.

Red99 don't need plan or any new content. What u asking for, is PVE.
This server only need people who like pvp more than PVE, people who can't imagine play this game without this option.
Problem :
1 - newcomer are upset about grinding.
2 - newcomer dislike the red99 pvp ruleset
3 - newcomer is bluebie who want some items he can't loot anymore on blue, grab it then go back on his server.
4 - lack of ad for Red ? not sure about this one, maybe 700-800 people (total) is the cap for an EQ1 classic emu server. There is a topic on FOH forum and a video on youtube.
Solution: Idk, but remove xp loss in pvp, this is a fucking joke.

Vast majority of pvp on live during classic-velious was organized, faction based, content contesting wars fought over PVE. Its what made EQ pvp so superior to other MMOs. Something to fight over: best pve and pvp adding another dimension to the competition.

Had started to type furiously until I realized I didn't actually give a shit. That being said, Everquest PVP simply isn't enjoyable to most people, hence the terrible population. Adding planes won't change anything except keep the one guild on the server PVEing a little longer.

But yet you choose to be in a Zerg on a one guild PVP server where there is no competition?

Wait, what?
Red players are complaining that they don't have enough PvE activities on the red server in order to keep themselves from going back to blue?
Posting in a troll thread?

I will admit that THIS is what makes PvP fun for me: it having a purpose beyond just killing to kill.
Unfortunately EQ has a place in my mind as PvE, like I did it back in the day, and I don't have the time or will to basically re-learn the game on red. But for that, though, I'm sure I would love it :(

Some of us have lives outside of EQ and still aren't level 50 yet. How about we just go the classic route?

Some of us missed out on prenurfed mage swords, and didn't get the free ride to 50.

^ some of us missed out on being able to get away with Nagafen stuck in ceiling, rechargable wands to level and harvest.
Big deal. Doesn't call for a wipe, speed up, or slow down of the time line.
This shit happens in MMOs and is more impactful on PvP servers.
Learn from the mistakes and move on imo.
I think alot of what op said are infact true... Without planes the server gets old fast. With two raid mobs their isnt much competition (phinny isnt a raid mob sorry). Once planes open people will have better gear and melees will get a bump in resists and even it out some more. The problem now is melee is gimped, people roll casters and go the solo route. The 2 or 3 people who roll a melee without a guild or crew behind them get bored of searching for a group for 2-3 hours and give up on melee. Then roll caster and get bored cause they didnt want to go caster route. I hate global ooc, but I think Gms should release global ooc until pop hits 300+ and release planes with it. Planes alone will bring atleast a 100 more people back from blue.

Incorrect. Perhaps since you clearly have a PvE orientation, the vast majority of YOUR PvP happened in these situations - but that wasn't the reality for the rest of us who played to PvP.

Sorry, like 63 members voted no to the 130 some odd members who votes yes. Obviously enough grounds for not considering here at p99. Popularity vote? lawl, thats like the electoral college for presidency shits so borked!

uhm I die because I try to solo dark blues untwinked, there is NO one to play with and if I fight really weak mobs the exp is incredibly slow.
After months and months of people asking I don't know why we can't have it, we (lowbies) need it so bad.
Gms could also do it like live and allow channels for people to start ( /join trade or /join general). So people who dont want global ooc can just /leave general and not listen. I hate listening to global ooc spam, but would be nice to join, find a group and turn off.

I'm sure 190 separate people voted.
I agree, go ahead enable it so we can move past this point. If it turns out to be constant RNF in game, well, away it should go.

I would imagine the RNF would be limited to a few select people. In that case the /ignore command isn't hard to find...
I agree with Nirgon's earlier post. Exploits, cheats, 'free-rides' will always be found in these type of games. It does give a particular advantage in PVP servers but it is part of the game. You just deal with it. It might cause a few deaths that otherwise *might* not occur but it is part of the game.
Only change I would propose is cutting the exp penalty for PVP deaths by 50% for those lvl 49 and under. Would make it a little less painful for those trying to grind.

You were probably in one of the few gank guilds that killed lower levels and most 60s disregarded. During classic-velious, all the biggest guilds were part of raiding alliances that were at war on Rallos Zek. They made up the majority of the population of the server.
And just to be clear, i have nothing against any guild or play style, do what you like, but to pretend that the majority of people played on rz/vz/tz for just pvp and not the progressive pve (raiding), would be wrong.
