I don't get what goes through the minds of you pathetic nothings of a person. I'd say the ONLY person that lurks on this forum, with any redeeming qualities at all is, Diggles. The boy gets it. All of you neckbeards in your thirties all hate each other for the same reason. Everyone on this forum complains about some CSBS that people have said about them. You're all out of shape, but calling each other fat. One dude makes $100,000 a year, or something like that, and instead of doing to smart thing and ignoring it, you all say that his paycheck is fake. First of all, $100,000 a year is not that much. I'm 19 and I make more than that. You gotta be a people fucking person in this world to succeed, and clearly none of you are people fucking people. I don't know if it's that weird basement dwelling joke era that you people grew up in that make you all retarded and unfunny, or what, but if I were you people I would reevaluate my life. The fact that somebody got to level 50 in like a month or two months, however long it was, is both impressive and pathetic at the same time. What's even more pathetic is how much that it effected, at leas,t 50 of you. Everquest is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. None of you play EQ for fun. You all sit on you high horse talking about how superior you are while shooting people down. I don't know how any of you people function in the real world, but for the sake of you, I hope it changes soon.

To the developers: Keep doing what you're doing. Make the game how it's supposed to be, don't listen to any of these ass clowns. You're doing a great job. It's evident by the fact that this is the most successful EQemu server.

tl;dnr: You're all pathetic.

With an annual salary in excess of $100k, there's really no reason to attend film school. It's an industry devoid any real barrier-of-entry aside from financial. I assume you've saved a minimum of half a million dollars because you've been raking it in since the Dawn of YouTube while living with your mom and dad, so what's the hold up? Is that degree going to give you the requisite creative talent you presently lack? Of course not. My advice is drop out of school and start living your dream, instead of just preparing for it.

Take it from me: I shoot high-def anal-gape scenes with alien bitches getting plowed by robots and shit. We film on the moon and I get paid in the twelve billion dollar range and I only eat the finest steaks.

You idiot, neckbeards missed the point. The point I was making with the money is that, it's such a small amount, in the grand scheme of things, and you ALL freaked out about it. Let's say that I made that all up just to do whatever. The fact that everyone freaked out about that is my point. You're all miserable people without any people skills. If you were a normal person you'd be able to make over $100,000. Not saying that's the average family income, but it's a very achievable amount. What should really affect you is that a 19 year old has more common sense that you. I'm probably half the age of a lot of you, and even I can tell that you're immature. Also, if film school is where you heard that people skills will make you 100k, you might want to ask them for your money back. Oh wait, you're probably racking up student loan debt to pay for school. Have fun graduating with a mortgage and no actual marketable skills.

Are you talking to me? I call it a "mortgage" because you owe about as much as if you had bought a small house (a quick Google search shows tuition at most California film schools runs $30-$70k for a 2 year degree), without actually getting a house. That's the way in which this is like a mortgage. And actually, current interest rates on Stafford loans are 3.4% for undergrads, which is a bit more then the best mortgage rate offers I've seen lately (2.75%).

My guess is he'll be fresh out of college into a crappy $2.13/hr+tips job. He'll likely benefit from the recent executive order that caps student loan payments at 10% of disposable income.

I'm working on a PhD right now and can offer some advice in the student loan department. Learn about investing and put your money into something that will yield you 5%+ per year. The federal student loans are subsidized, which means you don't start paying interest until you actually graduate. So the money you have right now can be making you extra income, while the loans are free. If you then want to take the money out and pay towards student loans the day you graduate, that's fine, but you'll likely want to continue making 5% off that money while paying the 3.4% interest rate.

Yeah, but you could start taking loans now and invest the money you have into a Roth IRA or whatever. It takes discipline and smarts to make money off it, but if you have these things, it's the way to go. If the government wants to give you giant school loans with no interest for a few years, why say no? If you're the type of person that will just take that money and blow it on xbox games and Code Red, maybe what you're doing is a better idea.

100k for a 19 year old that has no real job or education is very unusual.

Say what you want about what the "average" person ought to be making, but if you are being honest about what you claim to make you are doing way better than most of the people in the world...and tremendously better than most people your age.

That you kind of flippantly throw it out there and then try to play it off like its no big deal to make $100k makes me think you are probably just trolling...

Those who know don't say, and those who say don't know. Bragging and looking down your nose at other people are obvious acts.

Assuming your not part of the ~20% that can't find a job even after 6 months post-graduation, the median starting salary for students graduating from four-year colleges in 2009 and 2010 was $27,000 according to Rutgers University. Of course, a lot depends on your major but these are averages...

Surprisingly, P99ers are apparently well above average.

I wouldn't be surprised if P99ers were well above average. We are probably disproportionately in computer type degrees, which pay better than average. And we even have some film majors which apparently get paid 100k a year during their freshman year.

fastboy21

Post the source for the 27k/year...that seems very low. I would suspect that it would be closer to 40k.

27k/year would mean like a full time job at $13/hour. Most high school kids working at fast food joints around where I live are making more than this per hour.

Much depends on the region you are looking at too I suppose, but 27k a year is below subsistence living in my area by far, and most college kids are doing much better than this.

Could just be my personal experience too.

Very interesting read, particularly the parts where most people are going into areas that are not exactly what they expected, and many are not making anywhere near what they expected. I think we're starting to see the "do what you love" chickens coming home to roost, not to mention the "entitlement mentality" chickens. Everyone graduates with whatever degree they think they liked at age 19 (film, pottery, etc.) and then get out into the real world and find out they need actual marketable skills. Having spent many years in college myself, I can say that they spend very little time training people how to create things of actual value. The college bubble may very well be the next to pop.

I happen to work in the computer industry and make well above the median listed here, so I figured it was likely others here are of similar background. Of course, now that I look back on my interactions with folks on this server, I may need to reassess my assumptions.

Fat angry people piss me off! OMG, ARE YOU FOR REALZ, I JUST BE NOT UNDERSTANDING! ;p

We're all forgetting the real message in this OP.

I have redeeming qualities and none of you do.
