1) Get this started on my computer?

2) Find out if the Kunark discs serve me to get the game loaded?

3) Get one of you much smarter than I to get all the right files in all the right places on my computer?

4) Find out what it costs?

5) Help figure out all the bard bugs if/when I get back to the game.

6) Tell my wife that "um yeah ... I'm playing EQ again" ...

Damn, Jordail, if you read this and then my wife reads this she is gonna hunt you down, you have been warned...

To get EQEMU in general running, read this.

(Titanium is recommended for 1999)

To get Project 1999 running, read this.

As for your wife, just say "It's only an Emulator". That has worked with me (so far).

The solution with the wife is to get her playing too! I play with my husband and while I never got the chance to play EQ back in 99, I'm loving it.

Thanks Big,

Answered a few of the questions...the big one is still number 3 and it made me think of another:

Will this require the systems reqs of the newest expansion or the classic? Every expansion after velious caused me fits because I always was short a driver, RAM, Vid Card...

I have played other games and been ok but EQ always seemed to be the death of my patience. It always needed something "extra" to work...and I should also say I am not qualified to "just copy and past that .exe file into this folder"...comes from graduating college before Al Gore invented the internet...

Thanks Lindz, but I know my wife will never play, she would have picked it up by now with EQ2, CoH, Guild Wars, WoW or DDO...heh

Introduce her to /gems :P

as for hardware specs -

Titanium will run on a cardboard box with two double A batteries taped to the side. (But not a Gateway!) As long as you can log into game just once, you can shut down almost everything that could cause you problems (vertex shaders, the new water effects etc.) Under options (alt+o). Since it's a classic server, and you will (hopefully) be using the files offered on the site here, problems that might have caused graphic lag such as the newer particle effects or the overly elaborate UI will already be negated.

The instructions offered here (http://project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=40) are really all you need to get yourself set up properly, and I do highly recommend that you do everything listed - you will enjoy your experience here all the more for taking the time to do so.
