The one kid who I am friends with cycles through 3 different community colleges each semester. He enrolls, schedules classes, attends for the first week, the state sends him a check for around 1500.00 for books/school supplies, then after he banks it he withdraws from all classes and hes done.
The next semester its the same thing at a different community college he just has to drive a bit farther. He has been doing this for YEARS. He does nothing at all except sit on his ass at home and smoke.

And the mindless sheeple think the answer is to simply raise taxes... For what? So that we can waste more of our money? The government already gets more than they need if they would just use it and not let it be wasted and abused. Instead of creating a ton of ridiculous government jobs that are overpayed and underutilized, why not create some worthwhile government jobs like people that specifically crack down on those that abuse the system. You get caught? You're out for life.
Oh I forgot, they know people abuse it and are ok with it.

Semester = 4 months. 3 checks for $1500 = $4500 per semester. $4500 x 3 = $13,500.
Oh ma lawd he's living the high life on the back of the taxpayer. It upsets me to know that people like this actually think they're beating the system. If tomorrow I woke up and had $13,500 to spend for the next 12 months, I'd jump off a damn skyscraper and shoot myself on the way down, just to be sure.
It amazes me what people will do to avoid working.

He said his friend enrolls at three community colleges per semester. I assumed he got $1,500 per school -- if it's $500 per school and $1,500 total per semester, that's even more lawl-worthy. $4,500 per year? Oh man, he's really tearing it up.

Yup. Until this Fall semester this was perfectly legal in NY state. You were not held liable for ANY of the loan money either.
Now you have to attend a minimum of 30% of your semester classes or you're held liable for the money.
Obviously 30% is still a joke.
Back on top though....******s.

($1500 where you live? LMAO -- around here you can easily quality for around $5000 per semester of full credits)
In fact...my best friend, just last semester, used his state provided community college funds to buy both a $3000 Alienware desktop and a $1500 Alienware laptop.
The yea before that, he bought a 70 inch Sony LCD, as well as a 360 PS3 AND Wii. Year before that, he used ALL his money to buy a used toyota corolla.
Btw this kid is 24 and still lives at home. He gets about $4000 semester even while living at home.

I guess the same goes for the military, paying for a soldier's relatives stomach staples and boob jobs. An acquaintance of mine was recently bragging about getting a free boob job because her father was in the Army.

Well, this woman was one of those breeder-types, free-loading and floating between various dudes, crapping out babies like vomit on the tilt-a-whirl. Her body destroyed from excessive childbirth and now suburban-mom chunky, she has recently decided that she needs to find a "real man" and believes the first step to this grand quest is to fix her boobs, with the aid of the US Army.
I doubt you want pictures of this woman.

Ya man, I'm an asshole, but not even I would subject you guys to visual debauchery that is this woman. One of our mutual acquaintances, who ironically enough, had a go with her one night after a large quantity of special beverages, no longer refers to her by name, instead simply calling her "Beef Curtains".
Needless to say, I am not impressed that I may end up spending my own money on reconstructing her udders, even if it's only like .00001 of a cent or whatever.

Nothing new. Pork barrel projects are common in government. The problem with government is that it shares the costs of failure on the whole population. The people who actually caused the failure only get a fraction of the losses, as a result. So nobody really learns their lessons. I think subsidies and government aid are probably the biggest gripes I have with it all.
stormlord
09-30-2011, 10:23 AM
Case in point: a local bridge. It would not have been built without government aid. It cost over 3 million. Yet the community it serves is relatively meager. I doubt very much that it would have been built purely on economic terms. The neighborhood is too small. Bridge standards are so high in this area too - they can't build em like they used to. Back in the 1940's they just threw up a wooden rickety bridge and called it done - the cheap way. But what does hte government know about economy? Lol.
stormlord
09-30-2011, 10:29 AM
So anyway... A lot of money gets thrown into black holes. We never get the money back. It has a lot to do with conservation of momentum. Old dumb ideas stick around and don't immediately die out. People worry, they complain, they protest, and before you know it the stupid government comes in and spends a billion dollars to fix a #$%%!~! water pipe.

The point sir, is that the community that the bridge ACTUALLY servers is too small to pay for it. They only summoned something like $600,000 over a period of time. The government ended up forking over 2 million. It's not economic. The numbers don't add up. Our government is a black hole that swallows up our tax money.
stormlord
09-30-2011, 10:43 AM
I can guarantee you that things like this are happening all around the country in different aspects.
stormlord
09-30-2011, 10:46 AM
The root of the problem is that failure is shared by everyone rather than those who caused the problem. Those who caused it are not living with the losses and learning from the lessons. They're going on as though everything is ok. THAT is the problem. Everything is not ok. If this spreads too much and becomes common then we're literally going to spend ourselves into bankruptcy. I'm not joking. It's the truth.
stormlord
09-30-2011, 10:48 AM
When failure comes it won't come to those who deserve it, it will come to everyone.
