Half of you would have done it too if you been aware you could do it.

The other half of you didn't need to do it cause your "mate" on the other side of your teamspeak/chatbox did it for you.

See you in two weeks.

I don't cheat because I don't know how.

I don't cheat because there's no point in cheating on a 12 year old game that I'm trying to enjoy and reap nostalgia from.

It's probably not difficult to find out how to hack the game - most people who don't know just haven't spent the time to know. Why?

Get this - because we don't care to know how to hack. I play everquest to play everquest, not to hack everquest.

EC was as deserted as I've ever seen it last night. There were only a half dozen people selling wares at any given time. The impact these events have had on the economy is immediatly noticable, and it's refreshing.

I wonder how much in-game plat had been consolodated and lost by "Plat Merchants" who were wiped out by yesterdays events. How many Millionaires existed before yesterday and how many still exist in P99 today.

Maybe the impact wasn't as sweeping as I would like to believe, but 350+ acounts suspended and stripped seems like there was potential for a LOT of money to have been lost.

How many people now have Manastones (or whatever) that they will be trying to peddle for the same astronomical prices as before? Will it be 2 weeks before we see these legendary items return to auction?

Many of those people will probably quit, and if losing boatloads of questionably-earned platinum is enough to ruin a FTP game for you, then good ridance. But many, if not most will return, I'm sure of it. This game is too great, and they're probably too obsessive not to.

Viva Project 1999!!!

...and kudos to the powers that be.

You are an "Idiot" Ididittttt. You try to justify what you did to make yourself feel better. Keep trying, won't work. You know what cheating is, you did it, you'll pay, you'll be back unfortunately, you'll never change. You'd keep the million in the suitcase wouldn't you? There are honest people out there, meet us :)

When you have kids I hope you learn how to raise them correct. There are principles beyond rules, or what's called the "law." The law is for those people like yourself, the filthy, armpit part of humanity that will always be there and strain society to its breaking point. There must be law in this game, more so than anything else. Look at the other All-365 of us. We don't cheat or hax, and have integrity. You my friend should play with the other 364 somewhere else if you have any honor left. But you don't. See ya back in game soon, Idiotttttttt.

Uthgaard, can you please just reveal the names of anyone who posted in THIS THREAD who was suspended for cheating?

I understand not ousting the entire list, as it would pretty much devastate the community (no matter how shitty these people are), but if they want to make threads about it, bring them the attention they so desire.

You may be right!

Many people will do ANYthing until they're given a good reason NOT to. Such as it is, yesterday was certainly a good deterant for all of us moving forward.

I can't really blame anyone for pushing the boundaries of an imaginary world. That's how this game has been and always will be defined.

Anyway, most of us didn't, and now that we're all aware of the consequences, hopefully most of YOU won't either.

Dear Cheating OP:

You suck. That's why you had to cheat. I don't suck. At all. I am one of the very best players of Everquest who have ever lived. I take actual irl pride in that, and that's why I don't cheat. You got off lightly, and you know it. I think anyone who posts crap like this should get permanent IP bans.

Mcbard
08-28-2011, 02:48 PM
Not true OP. I hacked the fuck out of live EQ toward the end of my time playing it. I used MQ2 to run scripts for my cleric bots, warp like a motherfucker, solo gods and raid mobs and do basically whatever else I wanted because I was bored with Everquest at the time.

I did not use it here because I have no need.. I love this game as it is, and it's the reason I'm on this server to begin with. I wanted the classic EverQuest experience, even back when I was playing live I kept playing even though the entire time this is what I was missing.

So, no you're wrong. I'm perfectly aware of how to setup and use Macroquest and other programs to cheat. I chose not to because I have no need, it would ruin my immersion, and there is no reward for me to use such a program. Just sayin'.

I guess I must be the half that wouldn't have done it. I don't see the point, part of what makes this better than other MMORPGs is the challenge.

I never cheated back then and I most certainly wouldn't now. The whole point of playing on Project 1999 is because it's difficult and challenging. Removing or significantly reducing those challenges really defeats the point of playing here.
I also love how people bring up the fact that this is an emulation of a 12-year old game like that should mean anything. Yes the game is 12 years old and this is an emulation of that game. It is still quite challenging and great fun to play on it. Back in 1999 I had great fun and excitement because it was all new to everyone. Those were feeling which only happen once. Now I enjoy playing on Project1999 a lot because I am much less intense and love the challenges and teamwork needed to do well.

I can't speak for anyone else, although I'd guess many people are similar... but I don't cheat for lack of know-how, or lack of time to do it, or even fear of getting banned. I don't cheat because it takes the enjoyment out of the game.

If you cheat why would you not just play the easy servers? Why bother playing p99 if not for the enjoyment of the game and feeling of accomplishment?

Messianic

Good point - it's because the value of cheating is much higher when a lower % of the involved population is cheating. Cheaters like no one else to cheat so only they get the edge - which is rather amusing because if everyone is cheating, everyone gets bored and quits.

Cheaters are literally parasites.

Anybody with a search engine could obtain the programs for cheating. With the invention of the interwebs only one person really needs to know how to do something and share it with a community.

The fact that you can say something like this really exposes the mindset of people like yourself. It is beyond your conception that some people might do things a certain way, just because it's the RIGHT thing to do, not because they will get in trouble if they did things the wrong way and get caught.

Grow up. Seriously.

As long as places like mq2emu, and fenris are handing out mq2 "for p1999" you will have people using mq2 on emu servers which never have updated offsets. Live, does have updated exe's and what not now and then, but usage there is just as common anyway, so maybe it's of no matter.

why keep people pulling the "game is 12 years old" card.

To be honest, since I don't play on P99 anymore - @ Rogean and crew:

Your PR with the playerbase is horrendous, absolutely sucky. You have absolutely no reason to not release information regarding who cheated, from which guilds etc. It's frustrating to watch you folks continuously make poor decisions regarding the players, specifically your little brothers, real life friends, and ex-live guildmates in TR.

Such blatant, blatant, favoritism.
